Overview
Our client is an industry leader in the field of industrial water treatment and Research & Development Chemist to join their dynamic team. Responsibilities
1. Develop new product formulations to support our customers, in line with Industry and ISO standards.
2. Constantly strive to improve our existing formulations backed by research, testing, recording, and reporting, in an efficient and thorough manner.
3. Aim to develop the laboratory and its analytical capabilities.
4. Responsibility for championing and driving our sustainability/green product initiatives relating to our product formulations.
5. Involved in the full lifecycle from research and development through to Customer on site trials.
6. Involvement at tender stage with new and existing Customers, as and when required.
7. Work in accordance with the central Lab Quality Management system and ensure compliance with ISO 17025 quality standards.
8. Have a proactive approach to assisting in the development of the laboratory and SOPs in preparation for external third party and / or customer audits and play an active role in such audits.
9. Involvement in driving the initiative to develop a new R&D database.
10. Identify and make recommendations for improvements as part of the team within or outside the department to ensure continuous improvement.
11. Support all other on-going laboratory functions within the QC, Bacteriological and Chemical labs.
12. Maintain accurate laboratory records and paperwork in accordance with documented procedures.
13. Maintain high level of housekeeping and hygiene within the laboratory.
14. Support and comply with safety and compliance initiatives on site.
15. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements
16. 3rd level qualification in a Chemistry discipline, essential.
17. Minimum of 3 to 4 years’ Industry experience, essential
18. Previous experience working in Detergent Formulations and /or Water Treatment Chemicals, a distinct advantage.
19. Proven experience working in Research and Development, desirable.
20. Solid core Chemistry skills, essential.
21. Working knowledge of ISO 17025 & 9001, desirable
22. Experience with Analytical instrumentation such as UV-VIS spectroscopy, Ion Chromatography etc
23. Good IT Skills, with working knowledge of MS Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint.
24. Fluent English speaker
