Key Objectives
To have a clear commitment to the values underpinning the work and distinctive Loreto ethos of the Trust Board.
To take full responsibility for management of the Trust Board’s/Education Centre's finances and investment portfolio in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Regulator and instructions/protocols issued by the Trust Board.
To work collaboratively with other members of staff in the Education Centre in pursuit of these objectives.
Duties
The role of the Finance Officer will include the following duties/responsibilities:
Finance – Loreto Education Trust Board:
* In consultation with the Audit and Investment Committee (AIC), prepare and propose to the Trust Board an annual budget consistent with the Trust Board’s values and designed to secure the long-term future of the Trust Board and the services it provides to the network of schools.
* Monitor cash, bank, and investment account balances and transfer money between accounts as agreed with the AIC.
* Lodge and withdraw money when necessary.
* Maintain up-to-date records of all income and expenditure.
* Prepare and present all necessary accounts for the annual audit.
* Liaise with the Trust Board’s auditors to ensure timely completion of the annual accounts and the audit thereof.
* Review all accounts and present them to the Trust Board and Members at the Trust Board’s Annual General Meeting.
* Arrange for regular meetings of the AIC, with minutes supplied at each subsequent Trust Board meeting.
* Present quarterly reports of income and expenditure at Trust Board meetings.
* File returns with Revenue each month.
* Organise payment of travel, subsistence, and any other authorised expenses.
* Prepare and maintain Anti-Money Laundering documentation.
* Liaise with the Trust Board’s investment providers regarding the Trust Board’s investments and report thereon to the AIC and the Trust Board.
* Liaise with the Trust Board’s insurance brokers to ensure adequate insurance cover for the Trust Board and the schools at the best possible price and consistent with high-quality service.
Finance – Loreto Education Centre:
* Check the accuracy of all invoices and make payments in a timely manner.
* Manage the payroll for all staff in the Education Centre in accordance with directions given by the Trust Board.
Finance - Schools:
* Obtain the budgets of each school under the sole patronage of the Trust Board, primary and post-primary, prior to the commencement of the year to which they relate.
* Review such budgets with the AIC.
* Address any matters of concern with individual schools.
* Ensure that schools obtain the prior approval of the Trust Board before budgeting for a deficit.
* Liaise with schools’ auditors to ensure timely completion, audit, and approval of the school accounts.
* Review all audited accounts with the AIC for any anomalies or concerns about compliance with accounting standards, taxation requirements, or financial viability, and follow up as necessary with individual schools, keeping the Trust Board informed of any such contact with schools.
* Summarise all school accounts and report on the same to the Trust Board on an annual basis.
* Respond supportively to any queries from Principals or Boards of Management regarding financial matters.
* Invoice and collect Licence Fees from all schools annually.
* Ensure that all schools are invoiced for conferences and network events attended and follow up where required.
* Ensure compliance with the Charities Governance Code regarding all finance matters.
* Liaise as required with Joint Managerial Body/Financial Supports Services Unit regarding school accounts and financial matters and avail of all relevant in-service training.
Notes
The above list is not exhaustive. Additional duties in relation to financial management may be determined by the Trust Board and/or Chief Executive Officer.
A degree of flexibility regarding increased working hours may be required at different times of the school calendar, for which appropriate remuneration will be made.
A significant aspect of this position will be adaptation to changing circumstances. This will require ongoing review, with the Trust Board, of the key duties/responsibilities of this position and of the Loreto Education Centre in meeting the needs of Loreto education now and into the future.

Pay: €30,000.00-€40,000.00 per year
