Residential Social Care Worker/ Support Worker: Mallow, Cork - Part time/ Full time
Purpose of Role: To provide a range of services to individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities and/or autism in a residential setting. All care is person-centered and provides a holistic service in partnership with the person's circle of support.

Salary: Support Workers - €14.50 to €18.00 for drivers, Social Care Workers - €16.00 to €19.86 for drivers. It is expected that new entrants will start on the lowest entry point to the scale for the role.
Job Type: Full time / Part Time, Permanent
Shifts Available: 12-hour shifts, 8 am to 8 pm and 8 pm to 8 am
Working Hours: A mixture of working hours are available and can be agreed at job offer stage. Flexibility for shift work may be required due to the 24/7 nature of the role.
Reporting Relationship: This post will report to the Team Lead.
Vetting: All applicants will be subject to reference checks, Garda Vetting and a request to provide security clearance from any country in which they resided for more than 6 months after their 16th birthday.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Permission to work in Ireland.
2. One year of experience in a Healthcare setting.
3. QQI/FETAC Level 7 (or higher) Award in the field of Health and Welfare, Health Care Support or Applied Social Care or Degree in any relevant discipline for a Social Care Worker role OR a minimum QQI Level 5 qualification in Health or Social Care or equivalent for a Support Worker role.
4. Other relevant qualifications which will be relevant to the post applied for e.g. Nursing, Addiction Studies, Teaching, Accredited Youth Training, Psychology.
5. Full clean driver's license.
The following will be seen as an advantage:
1. Experience working in a Residential Setting.
2. Working knowledge of regulatory compliance and HIQA standards.
3. Experience/knowledge of report writing and client support plans.
Candidate Skills / Experience:
1. The ability to support the client group in a respectful way, always with the client's goals and needs at the centre of every task.
2. An understanding of how to prevent and manage challenging behaviour.
3. Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
5. Comfortable working with essential information technology and providing reports.
Main Duties/ Responsibilities:
1. Support service users with an intellectual / physical disability, autism.
2. Ensure service users are supported to make sense of their environment, learn new skills and maximise their independence.
3. Assist individuals with their daily living activities.
4. Support service users with their health and well-being, personal care including continence requirements if required.
5. Support individuals to live a meaningful life, with a priority focus on equal citizenship.
6. Facilitate everyone supported by the services to actively participate and integrate into the community.
7. Act as an advocate for clients/residents.
8. Actively promote the participation of clients/residents in the formulation and execution of their care/placement plan.
9. Accompany service users to appointments and other events as required.
10. Assist service users that have reduced mobility.
11. Undertake duties as may be assigned by your direct manager/team leader to support the care of service users.
12. Manage challenging behaviours, using a positive behaviour support plan.
13. Provide reports on client activities to management.
14. Attend staff meetings and contribute constructively to the ongoing progression/implementation of the care plan.
