Position Description
The Commercial Specialist role within the CPG of ESBN will involve supporting the quantity surveying teams on cost management and commercial aspects of various frameworks, primarily on the Overhead Line Framework.
The primary function of the role will be assisting with the preparation of cost files and Bills of Quantities, arranging Purchase Orders, tracking payments, and liaising with stakeholders as necessary.
The role may also involve supporting the tendering, evaluation, and implementation of various framework contracts within CPG.
There will be ongoing interaction with stakeholders including the quantity surveying teams, delivery teams, business support, procurement, and occasionally with contractors.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the Quantity Surveying teams with cost management functions including preparation of cost files, Bills of Quantities, and arranging Purchase Orders.
* Assisting with the payment process including liaising with the delivery teams and business support team.
* Carrying out data analysis on historic projects/work programmes.
* Interacting with key stakeholders.
* Developing and building relationships with other internal teams to achieve best practices for our end-to-end contractor payment process and other processes.
* Taking a proactive approach to identify efficiencies in current processes and supporting the development of IT systems and long-term enduring processes.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
* Proven ability to work with key relevant IT systems such as Microsoft Office Systems (Word, Excel, SharePoint). Advanced Excel skills required.
* Experience dealing directly and professionally with stakeholders.
* Proven ability to deliver a high volume of work on time and with a high level of accuracy.
* Strong proven communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
* Ability to work independently to solve issues and develop processes.
* Proven ability to work with a team and provide guidance and support to team members and the wider business.
* Ability to make quality decisions and judgments with a logical yet imaginative approach to problem-solving.
* A clear focus on delivery of high-quality work.
Desirable
* Experience working with SAP systems.
* Experience working in the Utilities sector/Construction Industry.
* Knowledge of the Overhead Line Network would be beneficial.
Qualifications
Essential
3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience.
Base Location
ESB’s offices at St Margaret's Road, Finglas, Dublin 11, D11 X3W7, or Portlaoise Depot, Portlaoise, Co.Laois, R32 HR02.
Hybrid working will be a feature of this role, subject to performance. Initially, the candidate will be office-based 3 days per week until they are comfortable in the role. Afterwards, and subject to performance, remote working will feature more.
Anticipated start date: February 2025.
Duration: 12 months.
