Background
The Orchard Care Group is a wholly owned Irish company that provides services to children and young adults in the care and disability sectors. The group comprises of Orchard Fostering, Orchard Residential and Orchard Community Care: Orchard Fostering provides foster care services on a national basis whereas Orchard Residential and Orchard Community Care, which are residential services, are predominantly located in the Northwest and West of Ireland as well as the Southeast.
The Role
Working across our Orchard Community Care division, the Occupational Therapist will join our expanding multidisciplinary team to provide a range of occupational therapy inputs, with an emphasis on sensory needs, to children and adults with an intellectual disability. Reporting to the Regional Director of Services, this part-time role will be based from our Sligo office (Hybrid work option available), and the successful candidate will be expected to travel to our residential services across the Northwest and western regions. Candidates must be self-driven, focused, highly motivated, creative, and experienced with a passion for engaging with our service users on a daily basis.
Role Objectives
1. Conducting comprehensive assessments of the individuals' needs and making recommendations on supports required, i.e., person, activity, equipment, and environment.
2. Using standardized and evidence-based assessments to form the basis of clinical reasoning.
3. Assessing, planning, implementing, and reviewing treatments/intervention programmes for individuals using a person-centred approach.
4. Assessing all situations with a focus on managing risk and contributing towards positive outcomes for the individual.
5. Collaborating with the individual while working in partnership with frontline staff, families, multidisciplinary team, and all other relevant stakeholders to identify and achieve goals.
6. Promoting continuity of care using effective communication processes with frontline staff.
7. Ensuring all records and technical data are up to date and available as required.
8. Effectively managing own caseload.
9. Forming strong positive working relationships across all areas of the service.
10. Holding an appropriate and effective set of professional values and beliefs and behaving in line with professional standards as set down by relevant professional bodies.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
1. Hold an Occupational therapy qualification recognized by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
2. Be registered or be eligible for registration by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
3. Candidates will have at least one year of experience working with adults/children with intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and autism.
4. Ability to work in a self-directed manner using initiative and creativity.
5. Ability to gather and assimilate information in order to complete assessments and develop care and support plans.
6. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, report writing skills, and be proficient at managing records in electronic format and hard copy.
7. Ongoing knowledge of relevant changes and best practices in the field of intellectual disability.
8. Sensory Integration experience.
9. Must have valid Garda Clearance and valid Overseas Clearance (if the applicant lived abroad for more than 6 months).
10. Full driver's license with eligibility to drive in Ireland & access to a vehicle.
11. Be eligible to work in Ireland without restriction.
