We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to head our Project Management Office within the IT division of our Financial Services company. The Head of Project Management will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the delivery of all IT projects across the organization, with a focus on project management methodologies while collaborating closely with the Agile Center of Excellence (COE). This role will lead a global team of project management professionals and work closely with senior leadership to ensure the successful execution of the company's IT strategy through effective project management practices.
Responsibilities
Your Role:
1. Lead and manage a global team of project management professionals, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
2. Develop and maintain project management standards, best practices, and methodologies for projects within the organization.
3. Collaborate with the Head of Agile COE to ensure a harmonious coexistence of traditional and Agile project management approaches.
4. Oversee the project portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, optimal resource allocation, and effective risk management.
5. Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of IT projects on business outcomes.
6. Implement and maintain a project governance structure to ensure appropriate oversight, decision-making, and escalation processes for traditional projects.
7. Collaborate with senior executives, business unit leaders, and IT stakeholders to prioritize, plan, and execute strategic IT initiatives using appropriate project management methodologies.
8. Develop and present regular reports to the executive leadership team on the status, performance, and outcomes of IT projects.
9. Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including business partners, vendors, and external consultants.
10. Drive the adoption of project management tools and technologies to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and reporting capabilities for traditional project management.
11. Ensure smooth transitions between Agile and traditional project management approaches when required for specific projects or programs.
12. Stay current with industry trends and best practices in project management and IT delivery, particularly for non-Agile methodologies.
Qualifications
About You:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field; MBA or relevant master's degree preferred.
2. 10+ years of experience in IT project management roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
3. Proven track record of leading large, diverse teams across multiple geographies.
4. Strong understanding of financial services industry and related IT challenges and opportunities.
5. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior executives and stakeholders.
6. Deep knowledge of traditional project management methodologies and relevant software tools.
7. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the ability to collaborate effectively with Agile teams.
8. Experience with portfolio management, resource planning, and budgeting.
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex, multi-faceted projects.
10. Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change and foster a culture of project management excellence.
11. Proficiency in risk management, change management, and quality assurance practices.
12. PMP certification or equivalent preferred.
