**Financial Controller at Paul Byron**
The Financial Controller plays a crucial role in providing financial leadership for our thriving retail business, supporting the senior management team, and ensuring the company's finances are well-planned, organized, and efficient.
This position requires an experienced accountant to manage day-to-day finance operations, oversee financial systems, and work closely with the senior management team on business and financial strategy. The ideal candidate will have a commercial mindset, strong accounting abilities, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the day-to-day finance operations
* Ensure efficient and cost-effective payment of suppliers each week
* Prepare accounts for auditor
* Invoice management
* Monitor and report on operations and performance with monthly dashboards and weekly KPIs for the management team
* Work on a project to replace manual processes with more efficient automated systems where possible
* Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flows
* Work with the buying team to ensure seasonal supplier budgets are maximizing GP potential for the business
* Improve current reports as well as develop and create new reports for the broader business
* Manage labor budget and planning
* Drive the quarter-end process
* Work with colleagues to ensure completeness of financials for all areas of their responsibilities
* Ensure all Balance Sheet accounts are clean and without material differences and be able to spot issues and resolve/escalate them quickly
* Responsible for the commentary on the Balance Sheet/P&L variance to budget
* Analytical review reporting of key expense variances to budget/forecast and provide recommendations to drive business performance
* Deliver high-quality financial reporting and analysis to assist with understanding and recognizing trends and collaborating on driving financial performance improvement opportunities
* Manage capital expenditure project spends, return on investment, and cost/benefit analysis and report on spend monthly
* Monthly reviews to improve budget accuracy
* Produce timely and accurate department margin analysis on a monthly basis
* Support all branches and departments of the company by providing meaningful business data to enhance net margins
* Managing tax compliance including co-operating with external tax advisors
* Liaising with external auditors on the delivery of financial statement audits
* Prepare statutory returns - VAT, PAYE, PRSI etc.
* Prepare Annual Accounts
What You Will Need:
* Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or similar qualifications)
* Minimum 5 years minimum post-qualification experience
* Good knowledge of local accounting standards, IFRS, and payroll calculation
* Experience in group reporting for statutory purposes according to relevant deadlines
* Strong in retail financial management
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Track record of implementing change and new processes in the finance function
* An open and enquiring mind - interested in problem solving with the confidence to ask questions
