UPMC Arthritis & Autoimmunity Center is hiring a full-time Patient Services Representative to join their team in Wexford, PA! In this position, you will work Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm. You will assist with registering patients, answering phones, and verifying insurance.
Responsibilities:
1. Help patients navigate the healthcare system by providing clear and understandable instructions. Provide follow-up to unresolved patient questions or needs to ensure the appropriate continuity of care.
2. Assist with administrative duties in the office including but not limited to scanning of medical records and faxing.
3. Guide patients through the use of self-arrival technology or check-in patients at the desk depending on patient preference.
4. Schedule or connect patients to resources to schedule for ancillary services at checkout.
5. Understand the principles of service recovery and be both empowered and responsible for taking appropriate action to recover from service that does not meet the expectation of the UPMC Experience.
6. Assist patients in education of financial responsibility and connect them to advocacy resources as needed.
7. Obtain the signature of patients or family members for consent to treatment and financial responsibility following the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules and regulations.
8. Confirm/verify insurance benefits with the appropriate carrier via online verification systems or telephone inquiries.
9. Promote the MyUPMC patient portal and assist patients in registration when applicable.
10. Collect copayments and any other applicable patient payments at the point of service.
11. Provide a warm greeting for all patients.
12. Register patients in the Biometrics (fingerprint recognition) program and explain benefits.
13. Confirm and/or update patient registration information at checkout.
14. Appropriately distribute/triage phone calls to other areas and/or clinical providers.
15. Schedule follow-up appointments within the practice at checkout.
