Job Description:
The landscaper will maintain the visual appeal of designated areas in the Casino Parking Lot, Recreational Vehicle Park, pool, and rooftop garden by ensuring lawns and gardens are properly cared for.
This role is part of the Four Diamond Service Agreement, which requires all Team Members to display a commitment to exceptional Guest Service through the delivery and maintenance of Quality Standards established by Pechanga Resort Casino.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain equipment such as pruning saws, blowers, hedge cutters, weed whips, and edgers.
2. Water lawns, trees, and plants using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans. Ensure natural turf fields have the required soil composition for proper drainage and grass growth.
3. Care for established lawns through mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, and removing thatch. Trim and edge around flower beds, walks, and walls.
4. Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs. Apply mulch for protection using gardening tools.
5. Decorate gardens with stones and plants.
6. Haul or spread topsoil, and apply straw over seeded soil to prevent erosion.
7. Cultivate lawns and gardens.
8. Rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
9. Trim and pick flowers, clean flower beds, gather litter, and provide regular upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, plants, burial sites, and other grounds features.
10. Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge trimmers, and axes.
11. Provide water at scheduled times for all planted areas.
12. Operate and maintain all power equipment.
13. Knowledge and use of all hand tools, manual tools, and power tools.
14. Operate irrigation controls.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Accountability:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The Team Member is responsible for protecting the assets of Pechanga Resort Casino.
Qualifications and Guidelines:
Education/Experience/Training:
A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required. 2 years' experience is preferred.
Communication Skills:
The position requires the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. The position also requires the ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients, and other Team Members.
The position requires basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
The position requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. The position also requires the ability to work with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
* Must qualify to obtain and maintain a class 'B' gaming license.
* Valid California Driver's License.
Skills/Abilities:
* Good organization and communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work under stressful situations.
* Ability to install sprinkler pipes when needed.
* Ability to prep for concrete pours.
* Mentally strong and able to cope with challenges.
* Must know how to operate irrigation controllers.
* Ability to communicate in English.
* Must be able to maintain regular attendance.
* Must wear uniform provided neatly and clean each day.
* Must be a self-starter who is highly motivated and resourceful.
* Must be able to work with a positive attitude in a fast-paced and culturally diverse casino environment.
* Must be able to take direction and follow through with assigned tasks.
* Must be flexible and willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
* Ability to lift 50 lbs.
