Title: Retail Assistant Manager
OBJECTIVE
To assist the store manager in the delivery of store targets (both in terms of sales & profitability) through the effective management of store operations and personnel.
SUPERVISORY
* Supervise the activities of the retail sales team daily and ensure necessary tasks are completed to an appropriate level.
* Ensure high-quality and consistent customer service is provided at all times.
* Delegate and communicate effectively with the retail sales team.
* Supervise the effective induction and training of all employees.
* Communicate sales performance to the team.
* Assist the store manager in the recruitment of high-caliber retail sales assistants.
* Assist the store manager in the effective management of retail sales team performance.
OPERATIONS
* Ensure the store is merchandised in a customer-friendly and competitive manner ensuring compliance with company procedures and guidelines.
* Maintain optimum housekeeping in the store.
* Coordinate in-store sales and promotions.
* Communicate with the retail sales team regarding in-store sales and promotions.
* Ensure adherence to the appropriate cash register and cash handling policy.
* Update shelf-edged labels every week.
* React to local market trends and competition appropriately.
* Ensure customers receive high-quality and consistent service at all times.
* Deal with and rectify customer complaints effectively and pleasantly.
* Proactively take necessary action in store improvements following customer complaints.
STOCK MANAGEMENT
* Assist the manager in preparations for stock take and supervise where appropriate.
* Assist the manager in minimizing stock loss through wastage, damages, and pilferage.
* Ensure food management and waste systems are adhered to by the retail sales team.
* Check stock to ensure adequate stock is available for customers' needs.
* Ensure stock is rotated appropriately to minimize waste through out-of-date stock.
LEGISLATION & SECURITY
* Ensure secure opening and closing procedures with the store manager.
* Assist the manager in matters relating to managing staff ensuring compliance with Labour Law, HACCP, Health & Safety, and Consumer Legislation.
* Identify and reduce potential hazards in the store.
* Work with the Store Manager to ensure Health & Safety checks are conducted and actioned accordingly.
NATURE OF THE JOB
* Maintain strong quality control standards, working with the General Manager to achieve sales and profits, through managing people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
* Upgrade management quality, skill level, and self-sufficiency.
* Build positive interpersonal relationships and motivate staff through frequent personal contact.
* Drive turnover down at both the salaried manager and crew level.
