As we prepare to open The Mercantile Hotel in the heart of Dublin City, we are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accommodation Manager to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic pre-opening team and play a crucial role in ensuring seamless accommodations operations.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure they meet established cleanliness and presentation standards.
* Supervise and coordinate the activities of housekeeping staff, ensuring adherence to cleanliness standards, schedules, and procedures by daily briefing and meetings.
* Coordinate with the Accommodation Manager to maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment and ensure their proper use and storage.
* Lead the department and ensure smooth operations in the absence of the Accommodation Manager.
* Manage the rosters and payroll system, ensuring rostering targets are met and monitored daily.
* Assist in creating and implementing efficient work schedules, deep cleaning schedules, and managing staffing levels.
* Assist in training, hiring, and developing new and existing staff members, providing guidance on proper cleaning techniques and safety protocols.
* Deal with all VIP customers and ensure that their rooms are checked and that they have all requested requirements.
* Handle lost property registry and follow up with guest queries.
* Ensure a high level of security is followed in relation to the control of master keys and guest bedrooms, and follow necessary protocols if a key card is lost.
* Maintain an up-to-date maintenance log, prioritizing issues and assigning tasks to the Maintenance Department.
* Ensure high standards of linen are maintained and that regular supply is ensured, including follow-up on rejected linens.
* Ensure effective communication with Front Office departments to maximize the efficiency of bedroom turnaround rate.
* Respond promptly to guest requests, inquiries, or complaints related to housekeeping, ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction.
* Follow up with housekeeping staff regarding any guest complaints, room standard issues, and time management.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience or 1 year of assistant manager experience at a similar property in a busy hotel environment.
* Provide superb guest service and possess excellent people management skills.
* Excellent communication skills, with good knowledge of both written and spoken English.
* Ability to multi-task and willingness to help in all areas of the hotel, including cleaning rooms, public areas, and handling linens.
* Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
* Availability and flexibility for early starts and late finishes, weekends, and bank holidays.
