Job Description
The Project Manager will act as the Contracting Entity’s representative, taking responsibility for managing the project from planning and design through to the successful completion and commissioning of the project. The Project Manager is responsible for delivering the project to time, to budget and to specification, ensuring the project achieves all project goals and objectives in accordance with the Contracting Entity’s employer’s requirements and the corporate strategic intent for the portfolio.
Programme Requirements, Standards & Performance
1. Oversee and monitor the delivery of the project around schedule, interface, cost, variations, contract and risk, liaising with the relevant team members and functions as required
2. Develop the Project Execution Plan, ensuring the project is aligned to and delivers in accordance with the
Contracting Entity’s standards and methods
3. Engage with and manage the project relationship with the Airport Transformation Manager.
Project Management Activities
4. Lead the coordination of the project ensuring interfaces are considered and addressed at all stages of the project lifecycle
5. Maintain the Responsible / Accountable / Consulted / Informed task tracker
6. Work with the technical teams in coordinating and managing the design consultants and other external service providers
7. Organise the appropriate design review meetings and be responsible for communicating design acceptance to the Contractor
8. Be responsible for communicating design changes to relevant members of the project team and stakeholders who may be impacted
9. Report monthly on the tasks throughout the project’s lifecycle including construction works (during the construction phase) that have been undertaken
10. Maintain the overall project risk register and update at monthly progress meetings
11. Identify opportunities to improve Project Management procedures, templates and products referring ideas to the appropriate line manager
12. Monitor and apply performance management techniques
13. Manage the change control process
14. Manage the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications
NEC Specific Activities (where applicable)
15. Review and accept programme submissions
16. Lead and act in the spirit of mutual trust and co-operation
17. Communicate and issue documents as required by the ECC and perform any other duties as stated in the contract
18. Carry out the duties as the Project Manager as required by the Contracting Entity’s contract for the Programme, maintaining close contact with the Client in order to ensure the Project Manager’s actions reflect the Contracting Entity’s objectives for the project
19. Manage the compensation event process so that the Contractor is fairly compensated for any Contracting Entity- initiated change on the project
20. Ensure the Contractor notifies compensation events in good time so that the Contracting Entity is not disadvantaged
21. Assess payment after each assessment interval
Qualifications
22. Minimum 10 years experience in the Construction / Infrastructure sector including on relevant aviation and/or other related projects of a similar size and complexity
23. Understanding of operating in a live airport site
24. Experience of operating on site, not just office based
25. Tangible experience of documenting best practice construction project management policies and standards.
26. Track record of delivering construction/asset delivery projects to time and within allocated budget;
27. Knowledge of operating as a client’s project manager
28. Experience of dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of process and guidance to support project delivery.
29. Managing a multidisciplinary team
30. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
31. Ability to govern and drive outcomes to ensure project outputs that meet required standards
32. Knowledge of NEC and FIDIC suite of contracts
33. Knowledge of Engineering and Project Management Principles
34. Planning capability and ability to use Oracle Primavera 6 scheduling system
35. Knowledge of Policies and Procedures implementation
36. Ability to make decisions and demonstrate the logic in reaching those decisions where required
37. Report writing skills
38. Computer literacy
