We are looking for a proactive and dynamic Sanctions Manager with recent experience reviewing and advising on the applicability of international trade sanctions and export controls to business and services, including European Union, United States, United Nations and United Kingdom sanctions.
This position will support the Marsh McLennan Legal & Compliance team in Europe focusing on the Marsh and Mercer European businesses’ compliance with relevant sanctions. You will be part of the Marsh McLennan Global Financial Crime Team, reporting into the Head of Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering and working closely with Marsh McLennan’s Europe Chief Compliance Officer.
This role can be based anywhere in Continental Europe.

We will rely on you to:
15. Act as a sanctions subject matter expert to provide guidance to legal and compliance colleagues and directly to the business and a wide range of internal stakeholders.
16. Provide advice on a range of sanctions referrals including complex cases, taking into account all applicable sanctions and trade controls, providing review and approval or escalating as required to senior management.
17. Provide general and ad hoc risk based training and communications including identifying any training needs for multiple stakeholders.
18. Keep up to date on relevant EU, US, UN, UK and other applicable sanctions developments in order to keep the team and company appropriately briefed on new and emerging developments
19. Work closely with the Global Financial Crime Team and Head of Sanctions & AML to support the implementation and maintenance of the Company’s Policies, Procedures and Financial Crime Framework.
20. Support any regulatory reporting requirements in Europe and keep up to date with regulatory requirements.
21. Provide advice and support with AML related projects and requests as and when required.
What you need to have:
22. Recent experience providing advice on the application of complex sanctions and trade controls to business and services
23. Knowledge of United States, European Union and international trade sanctions legislation including UK, UN and other regimes.
24. Capable of building strong stakeholder relationships across the company including with business, and legal and compliance colleagues.
25. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
26. Strong written and verbal communication skills
27. Experience of writing and delivering training to multiple audiences
28. Highly motivated and enthusiastic
29. Strong team player, willing to step in and support the team as and when required
30. Self-starter with the ability to prioritise workload and to work under pressure

37. University Degree or recognised industry accreditation (for example, ACAMS or ICA Financial Crime Diploma)
