If so, we want to draw your attention to four Assistant Professor positions in the Department of Work and Employment Studies (WES) at the Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick, Ireland.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in a discipline closely related to Work and Employment Studies (such as human resource management, organisation behaviour, employment relations, learning and development, work psychology, work sociology).
Established in 1994, the Department of Work and Employment Studies comprises scholars who champion decent, inclusive, and sustainable work and employment and are committed to excellent and impactful research and teaching. Our research profile is characterised by our expertise in the domains of Decent and Sustainable Work, Wellbeing and Performance, Equality and Inclusion, and Sustainable Leadership. Our research leadership is strongly reflected in the quality of our publication and citation records, our sustained successes in securing international and national competitive grant funding, and the impact of our societal/industry/organisation-level research. Our commitment to teaching excellence extends to all our students across the programmes we deliver and is reflected in the quality of the teaching environments created by our award-winning faculty.
We are now seeking four new faculty to join this thriving research-led teaching environment. Applicants should have experience in conducting high-quality research as demonstrated by published articles in international ISI-ranked journals. This may include but is not limited to publication in 3, 4, and 4* Association of Business Schools’ (ABS) journals, citations, journal impact factors, reviews, and research awards, or in the case of books, the publisher should be listed on UL’s list of prestigious publishers. Evidence of the impact of the research beyond academia is highly desirable. Applicants should also have a good pipeline of studies for publication. We especially encourage applicants with experience of and/or experience to apply for research funding. The preparation and submission of grant applications for research funding will be expected as part of the Assistant Professor role, and we have a range of supports available to help with the creation of a research agenda enabled through competitive research funding. International experience or collaborations with international networks in the discipline domain are also desirable. Research-led teaching is a core characteristic of our teaching delivery, and thus we are especially interested in applicants who have successfully incorporated/applied their research findings into the delivery of modules.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The job of Assistant Professor involves a combination of research, teaching, and service duties as follows:
Research and Scholarship:
1. Undertake high-quality research which will augment the research profile of the Department and School.
2. Prepare and submit grant applications for research funding.
3. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research.
Teaching and Learning:
1. Teach across undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional/executive programmes.
2. Engage in curriculum design, development, and innovation.
3. Participate in continuous professional development in university teaching and learning.
Administration and Service:
1. Undertake administrative tasks and service roles associated with an academic position.
2. Engage with external stakeholders (state, industry, and community) to strengthen links with practice and positively impact society.
3. Work collaboratively with colleagues to actively support the strategic plans of the School and the University.
Applicants for the position will be assessed against the following sets of criteria:
Essential Criteria:
* Doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in a discipline closely related to Work and Employment Studies (such as human resource management, organisation behaviour, employment relations, learning and development, work psychology, work sociology).
* Evidence of conducting excellent research and publishing in high-impact, academic, peer-reviewed journals commensurate with career stage and with a strong pipeline of forthcoming studies.
* Research area demonstrably aligned with or complementary to current research strengths of the Department.
* Experience and skills in teaching subjects aligned with Work and Employment Studies in a third-level institution.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience of supervision of students on undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes.
* Experience of academic programme leadership and curriculum development.
* Experience of applying for research funding.
* International experience or collaborations with international networks in own subject discipline domain.
* Demonstrate plans to attract external national and international research funding to support research in Work and Employment Studies.
* Active membership in national/international learned societies, committees, or bodies, where these relate to the research and scholarly work of the applicant.
