Overview
We are currently hiring for a Health and Safety Manager for our group operations.
Reporting to the Managing Director and the Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a specific Health & Safety programme to deliver best in class performance.
Responsibilities
Job Role and Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
1. Develop, promote and maintain a strong, pro-active health & safety culture. Ensure full compliance with local and national Health and Safety legislation.
2. Develop specific health & safety strategies, programmes and plans in partnership with Group Health and Safety.
3. Implement the Group's behavioural-based safety programme.
4. Co-ordinate and manage health and safety resources.
5. Communicate and co-ordinate the adoption of industry best practices in health and safety.
6. Establish a process of active health and safety monitoring through audits and inspections of site conditions and contractor activities.
7. Monitor and report on health and safety performance and challenges using predefined leading and lagging health and safety performance indicators.
8. Co-ordinate the development and implementation of health and safety programs and initiatives designed to continually improve performance.
9. Support local Manager in the execution of health and safety-related statutory duties.
10. Co-ordinate the investigation of incidents, ensuring root cause analysis is completed and corrective actions are implemented.
11. Influence employee work practices through dialogue, relationship building and behavioral safety coaching.
12. Coordinate the development and delivery of safety training, workshops and awareness briefings in consultation with our management team.
Qualifications
1. Primary Degree in Health and Safety.
2. Chartered member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or equivalent qualification would be an advantage.
3. An advanced knowledge of construction & quarrying health and safety principles with proven technical skills in occupational safety and health disciplines with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a related role.
4. Experience and proven capabilities in developing and implementing world-class health and safety management systems.
5. Experience in developing and implementing behavioral safety programs.
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong influencing and negotiation skills. A demonstrated ability to communicate and influence management.
7. Proficient in the use of MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook.
