To support our continued growth we are recruiting an experienced Buyer to join our Procurement Team.
About the Role
Reporting to the Master Planner/Scheduler, the Senior Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials and services from suppliers, which offer value for money and quality, ensuring the continuity of supply to the plant that is consistent with the purchasing policies of the Company.
Responsibilities
* Assume responsibility for gross margin protection, budget management, and inventory budget.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers, leading negotiations to ensure efficient workflow and pricing.
* Stay informed on market and industry trends through competitor analysis to ensure competitiveness of offerings.
* Source new and innovative high-quality product opportunities, overseeing them from concept to execution.
* Track, report and present on purchasing performance to the Master Planner/Scheduler.
* Action procurement proposals from the Company’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system in terms of purchase ordering, expediting or de-expediting materials.
* Action alterations to procurement master data in terms of lead times, MOQ’s, inventory safety stocks etc.
* Validate and approve P.O.s, ensuring they are issued expeditiously to the approved vendor.
* Implement agreements with vendors on costs, delivery schedules and payment terms etc.
* Ensure delivery dates on ERP system are accurate at all times and any changes are communicated to relevant stakeholders.
* Escalate deviations on standard costs to the finance department and delays to the production planner.
* Liaise with finance on supplier payment runs, invoice issues etc.
* Ownership of the AVL (Approved Vendor List).
* Actively participate in NPI (New Product Introduction) and change management process to minimize the Company’s obsolescence exposure.
* Actively participate in EE&O (Excess Expiry & Obsolescence) process to minimize the Company’s obsolescence exposure.
* Ensure that all new part numbers are set up with correct procurement master data parameters in the Company’s ERP system.
* Carry out and manage other Buyer related projects or tasks as required.
Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years in buying/trading preferably in a FMCG or Manufacturing environment.
High proficiency in all Microsoft Office software essential.
3rd level qualification in a relevant area of study (Supply Chain/Business) is desirable.
Experience of Power BI or equivalent beneficial.
Experience using QAD is desirable.
