Job Description
We are seeking a Programme Assistant to work with our team at IWA. This is a permanent position working 39 hours per week.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the delivery of services to members engaging in personal and activation programmes at our Community Centre. They will also be responsible for the safe transportation of members to and from the centre.
Closely linked to this role is the need for liaison with Community Centre staff and members, as well as links with relevant voluntary and statutory agencies, families, and friends of members.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Implement programme activities within the community centre on a daily basis, including implementing programmes chosen by service users and completing all report writing on programme designs.
2. Liaise and network with local resources, such as colleges, to implement creative new programmes.
3. Support the Service Coordinator in creating and implementing fundraising initiatives.
4. Encourage members to participate in developmental, personal, and activation programmes that operate from the centre.
5. Accompany and support participants on annual holidays, outings, socials, and day trips as required by the Service Coordinator/Service Support Officer.
6. Assist with personal care of participants where required, including patient moving and handling.
7. Ensure that standards and practices regarding health and safety are fully adhered to in all areas of activities.
8. Comply with IWA's Parent and Ancillary Safety Statements and any legislative duties set out in current Health and Safety and Fire Safety Legislation.
9. Ensure that your responsibilities to safeguard children and adults from abuse or harm are a core aspect of your role and that IWA's Safeguarding Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
10. Use clamping, hoisting, and lifting equipment as an essential part of this role.
11. Record and report any hazards, accidents, or potential incidents to the Service Coordinator/Service Support Officer.
12. Transport participants to and from the centre daily, and also to and from other related community activities as required by the Service Coordinator/Service Support Officer.
13. Ensure that vehicles for which you are responsible are always in a roadworthy condition and make necessary arrangements for maintenance, cleanliness, and repairs in consultation with the Service Coordinator/Service Support Officer.
14. Mentor staff and volunteers in all aspects relating to programme activities and transport safety.
15. Maintain the buses.
16. Be flexible and available for out-of-hours service activities, including evenings and weekends.
17. Carry out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned to you from time to time.
Person Specification
Training, Experience and Qualifications
A minimum of 5 completed modules of QQI level 5 in HealthCare Support or similar qualification is essential.
QQI Major Awards deemed relevant to IWA include:
* Community & Health Services (including minor components Safety & Health at Work and Care Provision & Practice)
* Health Service Skills (including minor components in Workplace Statutory Policies & Procedures and Care Skills and Care Support)
* Health Care Support (including minor components Safety & Health at Work and Care Skills and Care Support)
A full Category B driving license and a willingness to drive IWA buses is essential. A Category D Driver's License is highly desirable.
Knowledge and Skills
* Previous experience of developing and delivering projects or programmes.
* Previous experience of working with people with disabilities is required.
