Our Profile In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers.
In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana, located south of the historical "Oko" gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Heavy Duty SupervisorThe Heavy Duty Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing a team of heavy equipment operators and technicians, ensuring the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty machinery and equipment.
The Supervisor will monitor daily operations, provide leadership to the team, and ensure compliance with G Mining Venture Oko West safety regulations and policies.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupervision and Leadership:
Lead, supervise, and train a team of heavy-duty mechanics, operators, and technicians.
Assign tasks to staff and ensure that work is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Provide guidance and support to staff in troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical and technical issues.
Equipment Maintenance and Repairs:
Oversee and ensure the effective maintenance, repair, and servicing of all heavy-duty equipment, including trucks, bulldozers, excavators, cranes, and other machinery.
Schedule routine maintenance checks and emergency repairs for equipment to prevent downtime.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all safety standards, procedures, and regulations.
Conduct safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Enforce the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment among team members.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Monitor team performance and provide feedback to ensure high-quality workmanship and productivity.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repair work, and equipment status.
Prepare and present reports to upper management regarding equipment conditions, team performance, and resource requirements.
Inventory Management:
Oversee the inventory of spare parts and equipment to ensure sufficient stock for repairs and maintenance.
Manage ordering, receiving, and tracking of parts and materials required for machinery maintenance.
Problem Solving and Decision Making:
Quickly identify issues with heavy-duty equipment and make decisions on repairs or replacement.
Collaborate with other departments to optimize equipment use and performance.
Qualifications/Skills and ExperienceMinimum Technical Diploma.
At least 5-10 years' experience in Supervisor role.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
Working ConditionsPosition based at the OKO Project site.
Work Schedule – 14 days on 7 days Off.
