Senior Physiotherapist – Primary care
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team at the Primary Care Centre in County Clare. The successful candidate will provide high-quality physiotherapy services to a broad patient base, focusing on assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention of musculoskeletal, neurological, and other health conditions. The role involves collaborating with other health professionals to ensure a holistic, patient-centred approach to care.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Physiotherapist
1. Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of patients to diagnose and plan appropriate treatment.
2. Develop and implement individualized treatment programs for a wide range of conditions (musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, etc.).
3. Utilize a variety of techniques such as manual therapy, exercise prescription, electrotherapy, and education to manage patient conditions.
4. Evaluate patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
5. Ensure treatment is evidence-based and adheres to best practice guidelines.
6. Educate patients and caregivers on techniques and strategies to promote health, prevent injury, and manage chronic conditions.
7. Advocate for the needs and preferences of the patient while collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
8. Promote independence, self-management, and healthy lifestyle choices in the community.
9. Provide mentorship and clinical guidance to junior physiotherapists and other team members.
10. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
11. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and other collaborative activities to ensure coordinated care.
12. Contribute to the development and improvement of physiotherapy services within the primary care setting.
13. Implement quality improvement initiatives, audits, and projects to enhance patient care outcomes and service efficiency.
14. Participate in clinical research, development of protocols, and the integration of new evidence-based practices.
Requirements of the Senior Physiotherapist
1. BSc (Hons) or MSc in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
2. Registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council) as a Physiotherapist.
3. Minimum of three years post-graduate experience.
4. Experience in a variety of physiotherapy areas, including musculoskeletal, neurology, respiratory, and chronic disease management.
5. Experience working in a primary care or community setting is an advantage.
