About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic Commercial team. This role provides a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to large-scale engineering projects while developing your career in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
As a Junior Quantity Surveyor, you will assist in the cost management, project administration, and financial controls across various projects.
Responsibilities:
Cost Management
* Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities.
* Monitor project expenditure and track variations.
* Support the Commercial Manager in cost forecasting and ensuring financial targets are met.
Contract Administration
* Assist in the preparation and management of subcontractor contracts.
* Review and validate subcontractor invoices and claims.
* Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
Tendering and Procurement
* Participate in the tendering process by preparing pricing documentation.
* Assist in evaluating supplier and subcontractor bids to ensure cost efficiency.
Reporting and Documentation
* Maintain accurate records of all cost-related activities.
* Generate reports for management, detailing project performance and financial metrics.
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper documentation of project progress.
Client and Stakeholder Liaison
* Assist in responding to client queries related to project costs.
* Support negotiations with stakeholders to achieve the best value for the company.
* Work closely with the site team to ensure project progress aligns with budgets and schedules.
* Collaborate with senior quantity surveyors and project managers to address any cost-related issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
* A relevant degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of the Electrical works, particularly in areas like Data Centres, Life Sciences, or Renewable Energy.
* Familiarity with cost management software and tools.
* Experience or an internship in a related field.
