What is the Role?
The person in this role is responsible for services to Aerogen Ireland facilities in Shannon. The successful candidate will provide mechanical and electrical expertise to support the design and development of facility modifications, and undertake continuous improvement projects to reduce costs, and improve service provision. This role is complemented with support from the Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, EH&S, and Quality functions. The Facility Engineer is responsible for conducting and/or organizing facility works, that include, but are not limited to, mechanical and electrical, project planning of construction projects, layout modifications, operational enhancements, and equipment upgrades. Additionally, this role involves equipment replacement planning, PM system development, and sustainability initiatives, all while ensuring compliance with building/fire safety regulations, quality standards, and EH&S requirements.
What are the key responsibilities?
1. Working within the facilities team the facility engineer will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, regulatory compliance, continuous improvement within the facilities space.
2. Manage electrical requirements and operations related Fire alarm system, Access Control, HVAC Control system, air compressors – chillers - support electrical troubleshooting in manufacturing.
3. Co-ordinate servicing & maintenance, commissioning, repairing, installation, Distribution Boards, and associated computer hardware and software installation and data recovery.
4. Co-ordinate sub-contractors during upgrades and managing ongoing building repairs.
5. Strict compliance with all environmental, Health, Safety and Hygiene requirements.
6. Prepare estimates, project plans, financial approval justifications, specifications for facility and plant additions and modifications.
7. Responsibility for facility works related to new facility and manufacturing equipment installation or equipment moves and modifications including the preparation of associated PCNs and RAMS.
8. Identify areas for performance and cost improvement and lead facility improvement initiatives.
9. Maintain the facilities cosmetic and function condition in a manner which conforms to the requirements of the company quality system and GMP.
10. Ensure works are carried out in compliance to legal and internal quality and safety system requirements.
11. Maintain training and ensure it is up to date on assigned procedures and processes.
12. Oversee the development of an Energy Management System.
13. Play a key role in the efficient design review of new facilities equipment purchases and processes, ensuring they align with best practices and sustainability goals.
What education and experience are required?
1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a facility management role or similar.
2. Environmental Health & Safety experience is an advantage.
3. Knowledge of ISO 5001 Energy Management is an advantage.

7. Strong problem-solving capability, possessing a demonstrated capacity to identify problem root causes, deliver solutions, and risk assess.
8. Flexibility to work/travel between sites as and when required.
