Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our expanding team in the main contracting division of the business.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have significant knowledge of estimating within main contracting and have at least three years relevant experience along with strong communication skills.

Role and Responsibilities
As Estimator, you will be responsible for pricing a range of full lifecycle build projects including residential, commercial and educational works.
Main Responsibilities
* Producing commercially sound and technically workable estimates to assist the company in winning projects
* Conduct continuous reviews of various tender websites and all other sources for tenders (such as E-tenders, CIS) to identify opportunities for tendering
* Taking full responsibility for the prioritization and completion of all relevant tenders, including the completion of accurate tender information including date of tender to determine prioritization of all tenders
* Analyzing drawings, specifications and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and work on multiple tenders simultaneously
* Preparing estimates by compiling take-off bids based on scope of work to produce fully detailed bills of quantities, or pricing bill of quantity produced by the client/ design team
* Coordinating with the client on all changes in scope, questions or clarifications regarding the work, during the bidding process
* Carrying out site visits and surveys to understand the scope of works involved; Identifying scope for value engineering through product selection
* Completing analysis of tenders and prices received from the supply chain
* Obtaining feedback on both successful and unsuccessful tenders
* Liaising with quantity surveying team, procurement, subcontractors and other stakeholders as necessary
* Keeping up to date with current building techniques and relevant codes of practice, building regulations and legislation to make sure these are taken account of in the estimating process
* Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, driving innovation and excellence in estimating and commercial practices
Requirements
Essential Skills
* Experience as an estimator in main contracting environment with proven experience on residential and commercial project bids
* In depth knowledge of building regulations and standards
* Good experience in understanding design documents, drawings and 3-D models
* Ability to effectively manage estimating process and associated schedules to required deadlines
* Strong IT skills, including with packages such as Cost X or Buildsoft
* Full Irish driving license
* Ability to working in a team environment and collaborate with various departments
Education & Experience
* Relevant technical background or third level qualification in engineering / architecture construction related discipline
* A minimum of 3 years proven experience in estimating
