Your role

As a Construction Accountant, you will partner with construction management personnel to ensure the financial success of projects around the globe, apply principles of accounting to record and analyze financial information and prepare financial reports, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of a global organization.
What you’ll do
The Associate, Construction Accounting will report into the Sr. Manager, Construction Accounting and will be responsible for:
1. Project financial closeouts: collaborate with suppliers and project managers to prepare project cost reconciliations, closeout open commitments, and issue final account reports. Lead execution of final account and cost reconciliations, partnering with project managers to ensure accurate and timely close. Communicate with vendors to collect final invoices and deductive/savings change orders; coordinate with AP teams to ensure timely processing. Reconcile committed to actual costs and close open commitments in project accounting module.
2. General Project Accounting Tasks: Assisting in the implementation, documenting, and ongoing maintenance of the company’s internal controls and systems, including SOX-404. Prepare and gather materials related to construction and cost accounting matters for internal and external auditors. Partnering with the Design, Engineering & Construction group to ensure the financial success of the company’s development projects using the Yardi Job Cost module, including setting up, contracts and change orders. Proactively addressing cost and operational related matters with project managers, asset managers, and other internal project stakeholders on a daily basis.
What you'll need
To be a good fit for the Construction/Fixed Asset Accountant opportunity you will have:
3. Knowledge of construction cost accounting and general accounting principles. Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data and perform quantitative analyses.
4. Fundamental understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
5. Experience processing adjusting journal entries, processing reclassification journals, preparing account reconciliations, and any other related tasks.
6. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
10. Yardi experience beneficial but not required
