CoreOS Software Engineer
Job Summary:
Red Hat Engineering is looking for a Software Engineer to join the CoreOS team with a focus on RHEL CoreOS and Fedora CoreOS container optimized operating systems. In this role, you’ll be part of a distributed team and will coordinate work with other engineers, product managers, product owners, scrum masters, and community members to write new features for a rapidly changing container orchestration space. The role involves working in an agile environment on feature enhancements, bug fixes, and test automation. You’ll help define the architecture of new projects or features, and develop those from inception through to adoption. Expect to write code, review pull requests, fix bugs, update docs, and work with other teams to design complete solutions.

This is a great opportunity to learn how to work in a fast-paced environment. You’ll get to work on many emerging technologies.
What You Will Do:
1. Contribute new development work and maintain existing services and infrastructure used to build CoreOS.
2. Contribute to the build and testing pipelines, monitoring builds as well as investigating failures and reporting bugs in upstream communities.
3. Participate on a scrum team and complete tasks assigned within sprint boundaries.
4. Give demos to your peers on work you’ve completed each sprint.
5. Work with upstream communities like Fedora, Fedora CoreOS, OKD, and Kubernetes.
6. Ensure test plans for the code you create exist and that documentation is correct.
7. Design and implement automated test cases.
8. Analyze defects, design solutions, and engineer fixes.
9. Quickly respond to security threats.
What You Will Bring:
1. Experience of using Linux.
2. Familiarity with Linux containers or Kubernetes.
3. Experience with Continuous Integration / Delivery pipelines.

5. Experience with at least one of the following: Golang, Rust, Python.
6. Ability to learn new programming languages.
7. Good written and verbal English communication skills.
8. Experience in making effective code reviews.
9. Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
The Following Are Considered a Plus:

2. Experience of how Open Source and Free Software communities work.
3. Ability to present to customers and stakeholders.
4. RHCSA certification or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Containers.
5. Knowledgeable about Linux Boot process (bootloader, SecureBoot, initramfs).
6. Experience with at least one public cloud.
