Daffodil Care Services are currently hiring Relief Social Care Workers in our Aftercare service in North Dublin.
What we do:
Daffodil Care Services has developed a nationwide network of aftercare services consisting of both residential and comprehensive outreach services. Our residential aftercare services are fully staffed 24/7 providing timely support to vulnerable young adults as they progress to independent living.
The role:
This is a dynamic service, providing individualised interventions to young adults aged 18 - 23 years, to enable them to live in safety and with stability and support to begin their journey to independence. Working as a Social Care Worker, you will support, guide, and lead by example the vulnerable young people in our care, in conjunction with the wider multidisciplinary team involved in their care. You will ensure the welfare of those under your care and will act as an advocate as appropriate. The Social Care Worker will contribute to the planning and evaluation of individualised placement plans, which are based on strengths and needs and delivered through day-to-day shared life experiences within the residential aftercare setting.
You will support and empower vulnerable young adults to identify goals and person-centered targets while working through the process of gaining independence.
Hours of Work: Rotational shift pattern rolling roster (average 48 hours per week) including the requirement to work evenings, weekends and overnights. Typically, the shift pattern is based on 2 x 24hr shifts (including sleeping overnight and breaks) per week. Typically shifts start at 11am sleeping night at midnight, commence again at 8am and finish at 11.30am
The successful candidate will have:
* Experience of using a high level of communication skills, both verbally and in writing, using Microsoft Office applications.
* Good time management and organizational skills.
* Knowledge of rights and entitlements aftercare leavers.
* Understanding of mental health behavioral patterns and presentations.
* A good understanding of addictions and the physical, mental and emotional side effects.
* De-escalation and managing challenging behaviors inclusive of Crisis management and prevention.
* Experience of supporting young adults (under 25) who have experienced any of the following: care system, justice system, prison, institutional care, supported accommodation.
* Understanding of trauma informed care.
* Lone working experience and managing shifts in a low threshold residential setting.
* Experience of working with the complex and compound traumas of children who have been through the care system E.g., poly substance misuse, dual diagnosis, maladaptive behaviors, working with and understanding trauma, mental health issues, etc.
* On-call experience.
* Minimum 2 years experience in residential care setting.
Qualifications Required:
* Level 7 Degree in any of the following: Social Care, Social Work, Applied Social Studies, Social Science, Youth and Community Work, Addiction Studies, Psychology, Counselling, Child & Adult Psychology, Primary Care.
