This is a three-year specific purpose contract for a Project Manager at the Digital Repository of Ireland to assist in developing organisational, national and European capacity in research data sharing and re-use across research domains and sectors.
The aim of the post is to build DRI’s capacity for best practice Research Data Management (RDM) in line with national and international guidelines on open science and data management, with particular attention to developments in Ireland’s National Open Research Forum (NORF) and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The successful candidate will work with researchers and research communities to support the development of FAIR practices, particularly in relation to arts, humanities and social science communities in Ireland, and to assist in developing the capacity for a range of research communities to participate in the EOSC by leveraging and building upon the structures and the work of the Research Data Alliance (RDA).
The post involves collaborating with stakeholders across Europe and may involve travel depending on evolving pandemic restrictions and practices.
Key responsibilities
1. Reporting to the DRI Director, plan, manage, deliver and monitor DRI’s responsibilities to the Research Data Alliance (RDA) in the Horizon Europe funded EOSC Future project including:
2. Building capacity for underrepresented research communities in RDA to participate in the EOSC by actively reaching out to stakeholders to improve EOSC awareness and readiness levels
3. Assisting in coordinating international data commons initiatives to ensure technical, policy, social and cultural knowledge exchange and alignment of EOSC
4. Synchronising international open knowledge practices and policies related to reward and incentive indicators to support researcher uptake of Open Science practices
5. Work with researchers and research data experts in Ireland to support FAIR implementation and alignment across the arts, humanities and social sciences
6. Align DRI’s support for FAIR data management with RDA outputs, NORF recommendations, EOSC guidelines and global solutions (i.e., via RDA or CODATA global open research commons)
7. Contribute more broadly to the ongoing development of the DRI’s capacity in research data management with attention to technical requirements, training and policy developments
8. Actively contribute to DRI grant and funding proposals, task forces, and other DRI activities as assigned
