Job Description:
The Senior Director of Solution Consulting and Project Management at Lucas Systems will lead a dynamic team responsible for designing and delivering innovative solutions that optimize operational processes to increase productivity and enhance employee engagement within warehouses and distribution centers.
This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in project management, a strong commercial and sales acumen, and the ability to align people, processes, deadlines and deliverables in support of customer and company goals.
This position is located in our Wexford, PA headquarters (Full-Time, Onsite)
Team Overview:
Solution Consultants work in co-ownership with our Sales team and Lead Engineers in participation of sales discovery, solution design, and development of the business case (ROI) to communicate the potential value and impact of the Lucas solution. They then work with the Commercial Software Project Managers and Lead Engineers to ensure the solution requirements and customer expectations are communicated and effectively addressed in the functional design and specifications of the solution. Post project execution, the Solution Consultant speaks to customer results and opportunities for internal and external continuous improvement.
Project Managers own the P&L responsibility for all customer-facing projects, working across a team of Lucas experts and directly with a diverse customer base, including Fortune 50 accounts. Project Managers own the customer relationship post-sale, from customer experience, quality assurance and customer results, the Lucas team experience, profitability and intellectual property. Project Managers serve as the primary point-of-contact for the customer and are responsible for reporting status and on-going nurturing of relationships in support of business expansion goals. Two-thirds of the company’s overall profitability resides under the direct responsibility of the Project Managers.
Key Responsibilities of the Director Role:
* Leadership and Strategy Co-Owning the Sales Process: Lead the Solution Consulting and Project Management teams and their co-ownership of the Sales process, ensuring alignment with company growth goals and strategic objectives. Manage and motivate teams to ensure best practices are followed to achieve Lucas’ success metrics that include: customer results, customer experience, Lucas experience and Lucas results.
* Value Proposition Development: Participate in the analysis of potential customer facilities and operations, as needed, to understand and articulate the clear and differentiating value propositions in support of the business development process.
* Business Case Development: Support potential customers, as needed, to justify projects, develop business cases and differentiation of solutions, and through internal project authorization processes.
* Operational Process Design: Participate in operational process designs and workflow sessions, as needed, to address customer requirements.
* Solution Design: Collaborate with Sales and Engineering related to sales discovery, solution design, and business cases (ROI).
* Functional Development Support: Support functional development initiatives.
* Project Oversight: Oversee the execution of the project portfolio, ensuring all solution requirements, customer expectations, and Lucas metrics are being effectively addressed.
* Customer Engagement: Communicate with stakeholders throughout design, development and delivery of solutions created to achieve greater productivity, accuracy, and service level commitments for customers. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely exchange of information and removal of roadblocks to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery and customer satisfaction.
* Continuous Improvement: Post-project execution, analyze customer results and identify opportunities for internal and external continuous improvement.
* Industry Expertise: Continue to develop and share industry expertise and business acumen.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
* Experience: 7+ years of experience managing external customer projects in the technology space (e.g., Project Manager or Implementation Consultant in software) with experience in supporting Commercial Sales co-ownership.
Skills:
* Demonstrated P&L management experience.
* Strong preference for Warehousing, Distribution, Logistics or Manufacturing background with capital and/or large software budgeted expenditures.
* Strong commercial and sales acumen with a solid understanding of business operations and driving/supporting sales efforts (sales, finance, operations, etc.).
* Ability to pivot between strategic and hands-on as needed.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across the organization (e.g., high-level IT and Operations Managers, Executives, End Users, etc.).
* Proven track record of high achievement in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
* Focus on organization, quality and timeliness of project deliverables and customer results from use of the solution.
* Ability to oversee simultaneous projects and prioritize schedules for self and team.
* Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
