University College Dublin’s Professional Academy is seeking a Learning Designer to create a new set of great learning experiences that address professional upskilling and reskilling needs through practical, effective, creative development.
The UCD Professional Academy focuses on delivering shorter, career-focused training to individuals across a wide variety of industries. The courses are primarily delivered through live online sessions. Housed as a commercial company owned by the University, we operate a fast-paced, forward-thinking, and dynamic environment with significant market opportunity and a worthwhile mission. The Professional Academy is an ambitious project which seeks to make a significant contribution to promoting skills-based training to the workforce, while upholding UCD values by embedding quality, integrity, and accountability into every aspect of its activity.
The Learning Designer is a new role that will focus on creating new learning solutions with a strong focus on corporate training requirements. Working alongside the Lead Learning Designer, the successful individual will engage with subject matter experts and corporate customers to create effective, repeatable training solutions that address their needs.
You will be experienced in corporate training, learning design principles and adult learning solutions that have measurable results in the workplace. You have worked with subject matter experts on subjects that are both new and challenging to many organizations, such as applied artificial intelligence and sustainability. You have created new training solutions from scratch, with emphasis on practical application of new skills.
Salary: €45,000 per annum
Key Responsibilities
* Design new courses following design guidelines in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) and corporate customers
* Collaboratively adapt content from SMEs, applying instructional & branding design to materials
* Coordinate video production where video is a component of the course
* Maintain and create new iterations of existing courses to ensure relevance as well as inclusion of the latest industry trends and customer feedback
* Work closely with Professional Academy stakeholders, including Student Operations, other Product team members, QA and Marketing as needed
Skills and Requirements:
* Experience creating training solutions with measurable impact in an L&D setting
* Ability to design, script and produce courseware in a variety of formats, including synchronous live delivery, e-learning and video
* Technically minded, able to learn new software and technologies that may support new course design and delivery, delve into subject matter as needed to assist with instructional design, or enhance operational aspects of delivery, as needed
* Experience working with subject matter experts to create courseware
* Strong collaboration and communication skills in a team environment
* Good project management record in learning projects
* Some experience demonstrating ROI of learning solutions
* Curious and inquisitive, willing to learn more, and to learn about learning
