Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal
The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.
Purpose of the Role
The main responsibility of the Technical Engineer is to support Technical Support, primarily the STARS lab, and its engineering, validation, and maintenance activities.
Main Responsibilities
1. Generate, execute, and review validation protocols and associated reports for related Process & Software Validation Activities.
2. Monitor manufacturing processes and provide Engineering support when required.
3. Identify opportunities and improvements in current manufacturing processes & software.
4. Lead and manage multiple projects from inception to implementation, ensuring adherence to project plans and timelines.
5. Manage introduction and validation of new equipment on-site.
6. Assist in providing Technical information for Non-Conformance reports relating to Manufacturing Process & Software.
7. Ensure compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and perform other duties as assigned by management.
Main Requirements
1. Third level qualification in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics or other Equipment/Process Engineering related degree programme.
2. Extensive experience with SQL and database systems, including the ability to manage and analyze data effectively.
3. Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills are essential, as well as the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
4. Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
5. Self-motivated with a high degree of accountability and the ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced and evolving environment.
6. 4+ years’ manufacturing experience required.
