The Role
The Finance Manager will report directly to the CEO and have overall responsibility for timely and accurate financial and management reporting. This role supports the CEO in developing and executing the finance strategy and ensuring alignment with the strategic plan.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management: Prepare financial and management accounts, annual budgets, and cash flow forecasts. Maintain bank reconciliations, nominal ledger, investment ledger, and accounts payable. Prepare payroll and returns to Revenue Commissioners.
2. Credit Control: Oversee weekly review of accounts on arrears listing, communicate with members, and conduct identical procedures for written-down loans. Provide necessary information and documentation for legal process and complete legal documentation as requested by solicitor. Draft credit control reports as requested by CEO. Restructure member loans as required by CEO.
3. Risk & Compliance: Ensure oversight over Risk & Compliance function, supporting AML Officer and liaising with external Risk Management Officer and Data Protection Officer. Develop plans to support Board and Executive in Risk & Compliance non-adherence and promote a culture of compliance across all areas of the credit union.
4. People Management: Direct daily operations of Finance, Credit Control, and Compliance functions, analyse processes, tasks, costs, establish priorities, develop and reach high standards of work and performance targets. Implement and monitor performance management process and system for team members, effectively coach and manage team members as part of performance assessment process.
5. Senior Management Team: Deputise for CEO in their absence, provide decision-making support to CEO and Board of Directors, generate detailed monthly reports to CEO & Board of Directors, and continuously act as a role model leader demonstrating highest standards of professionalism, behaviour, ethical management, integrity, and honesty.
Requirements
A primary degree in Business or Finance, preferably with QFA qualification or willingness to work towards same. Established experience in senior finance role, preferably within credit union or in regulated sectors. Excellent skills in financial planning, forecasting, reporting, budgeting, managing profitability, and meeting regulatory requirements. Commercial awareness and strategic thinking skills are essential.
