Matrix Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Environmental Manager for our client based in County Cavan who specialises in the Food Manufacturing industry. Our client is a leading name in the meat industry known for their commitment to quality, sustainability and innovation. With state-of-the-art processing facilities and rigorous quality control measures, they ensure premium products for both domestic and international markets. With new opportunities on the horizon, they are now looking to expand their team.
The Environmental Manager, reporting into the site General Manager, is responsible for managing the site's environmental performance by developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy. They oversee sustainability initiatives, ensuring the company meets its targets for reducing energy consumption, waste, and emissions. By coordinating environmental policies and promoting best practices, they drive continuous improvement across the site.
This is a permanent role.
Your new job
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Implement and manage environmental policies, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and relevant legislation.
2. Monitor emissions, emission points, and wastewater treatment operations, ensuring daily compliance.
3. Liaise with regulatory bodies, including the Environment Agency, local authorities, and public organisations, while generating required reports.
4. Lead sustainability initiatives focused on waste reduction, recycling, and energy management.
5. Oversee pollution control, sludge treatment, and renewable energy projects.
6. Maintain and continuously improve the Environmental Management System and support the installation of new environmental technologies.
7. Attend audits, site inspections, and provide leadership to ensure adherence to environmental standards and company values.
What are we looking for?
1. Qualification in a relevant field related to Environment and Sustainability Management.
2. In-depth understanding of environmental legislation and compliance standards.
3. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
4. Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, work independently, demonstrate innovation, and manage multiple tasks with strong prioritisation.
