The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) is seeking a Communications Advisor to work on a fixed-term basis for three years.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Strategic Communications and Engagement to deliver an effective corporate communications function. This will involve providing a press office function, supporting reputational issues management, and contributing to safety campaigns.
* Provide a press office function to handle media inquiries and respond to requests for information.
* Support the management of reputational issues and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of safety campaigns, including social media and website management.
* Engage with stakeholders, including politicians and community groups, to promote the service's objectives.
* Evaluate communication activities and events to measure their effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
The Communications Advisor will be responsible for:
* Developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy to achieve key objectives.
* Managing external and internal communications, including press releases, statements, and other materials.
* Coordinating events, such as press conferences and stakeholder briefings.
* Collaborating with other teams, including marketing and public affairs, to ensure consistency and coherence in messaging.
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you should have:
* A strong understanding of corporate communications principles and practices.
* Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to produce high-quality content quickly.
* Experience in managing social media platforms and creating engaging content.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Working Hours:
The post holder will be expected to work 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. A Flexible Working Hours Scheme is also in operation.
Salary:
The salary range for this position is £38,626 - £41,511 per annum, within the PO2 scale.
