Job: Data Centre Maintenance Technician (Electrical & Mechanical)

We are looking for a Data Centre Maintenance Engineer who works on shifts (12 hrs) including nights and is responsible for operating and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment and systems to ensure that overall availability and reliability meets or exceeds the highest possible service levels, reporting directly to the Data Centre Operations Manager.
In the role, you can expect to be responsible for:
1. Operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment and systems under a rigorous change management system to maintain 100% uptime availability.
2. Monitoring and troubleshooting all site/plant equipment support systems to include logging and responding to incidents/events, problems, changes, monitoring, problem escalation/notification/resolution, and all other aspects of site support (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, generators, fire alarms, and suppression, etc).
3. Utilising maximum capabilities of all operational systems including BMS, PMS, CMS.
4. Managing sub-contracted resources, as necessary, to deliver a safe and quality service to the Business.
5. Management and coordination of all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) scheduled activity.
6. Management, delivery, and oversight of the site Permit to Work (PtW) system.
7. Ensuring a positive Health and Safety (H&S) culture is promoted and maintained across the site.
8. Management of critical works.
9. Operating and maintaining power supplies and environmental services to safeguard critical client systems and equipment.
10. To be fully conversant with Company policies, operating and emergency procedures, and initiate improvements to minimise risk and to promote best practice.
11. Working closely with other site workers on all customer-impacting work to ensure streamlined communication and the maintenance of high levels of customer service.
12. Maintaining up-to-date operational documentation including processes and procedures, inventory reports, incident reports, capacity management reports, service reports, contract documentation, technical drawings, etc.
13. Performing and recording details of site walkthroughs to verify efficient operation of equipment and monitoring systems.
14. Acting as a First Responder to critical incidents or events and as the main point of contact during significant events or technical escalations.
15. Providing training to contract Maintenance Teams to ensure an appropriate level of knowledge and understanding of Company requirements is established.
16. Ensuring Company policies, processes, and procedures are adhered to.
17. Completing site documentation before and after work tasks, as appropriate.
18. Carrying out Risk Assessments of equipment maintenance and other tasks and ensuring these are reviewed and updated as required.
19. Carrying out periodic reviews of processes and procedures to ensure documents are current and valid.
20. Being familiar with and ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with respective Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) statutory requirements, national/local regulations, and company policies.
21. Troubleshooting utilities problems and managing the execution of a utilities maintenance programme in order to achieve and sustain optimum reliability, maintainability, useful life, and life cycle cost for utilities assets.
22. Driving local reviews of maintenance performance data using published KPI results.
23. Ensuring PPM programme content is reviewed on a regular basis to remove non-value added activities and duplication.
24. Ensuring that the Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) system contains the most up-to-date information regarding equipment data, spares, and maintenance man-hours.
25. Driving consistency in how electrical power monitoring systems are operated across the site.
26. Conducting Post-Incident and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on all incidents.
27. Development, management, and implementation of Emergency Operational Procedures (EOPs) and Work Instructions.
28. Creating entries on the Service Desk ticketing system.
29. Carrying out regular audits to ensure optimised operation of equipment.
30. Alarm management, alarm clean-ups, and alarm/historical data extractions.
31. Ensuring all tools and equipment are kept in good condition.
32. Asset management and tracking.
We are looking for people with the below skills and experience:
1. HND in electrical, instrument/control, mechanical engineering, or equivalent desirable.
2. Professional electrical or mechanical certification (National Craft Certificate (NCC), Registered Electrical/Mechanical Contractor (REC), or national equivalent).
3. At least 4 years post qualification experience.
4. Experience in troubleshooting/repair of low & medium voltage electrical systems.
5. Experience in troubleshooting/repair of mechanical/HVAC systems.
6. Knowledge and ability to apply safe electrical practices according to guidelines/regulations set by relevant national electrical safety supervisory bodies.
7. Experience of maintaining Pumps, HVAC Systems, Compressors, Boilers, steam systems and ancillary services, (DHW skids), Chillers, Cooling Towers, Clean steam Boilers, Purified Water Systems, CIP systems, Low/Medium voltage Electrical Systems, UPS, Generators and other associated systems.
8. Experience of electrical power monitoring systems in data centres or similar environments.
