Role Profile
The part-time Content Editor role is located within the Communications Team at DCU Educational Trust. We are looking for an accomplished writer and storyteller to inspire supporters and bring our work to life. The role reports directly to the DCUET Communications Manager, and will also work closely with colleagues in the DCU Communications and Marketing team.
Duties And Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not restricted to, the following:
Content Creation
The role holder will share responsibility for writing and creating content to showcase the impact of philanthropic donations to the university, and to introduce DCU's priority fundraising projects. The Content Editor will create content in a variety of formats including blog articles, presentations, reports, emails, social media posts and video scripts.
Duties Will Include
* Creating high-quality written content that aligns with organisational objectives, DCU brand guidelines and tone of voice.
* Writing content that includes blog articles, donor impact reports, emails, social media posts and more.
* Writing video scripts and storyboards.
* Writing case studies that demonstrate how supporters are transforming student lives.
* Interviewing DCU subject matter experts to explain the impact of philanthropic support for their work, and turning descriptions of complex research projects into easily digestible content.
Supporter Communications
The role holder will have responsibility for the development and delivery of a programme of scheduled communications for DCU supporters. Duties will include:
* Developing content plans and writing copy for bi-monthly supporter e-newsletters.
* Developing content plans and writing copy for the Trust's annual impact report.
* Writing customised impact content and reports for the university's leading supporters.
* Contributing to the development of content and collateral for fundraising pitches.
* Speech writing for DCU Educational Trust events.
* Creating and delivering digital campaigns to promote DCU Educational Trust initiatives and fundraising appeals across channels that include our website, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Mailchimp.
Supplier And Stakeholder Management
The role holder will have responsibility for liaising with suppliers and key internal stakeholders as required to develop impactful marketing materials and successfully implement campaigns. Duties will include:
* Preparing briefs and booking photographers, videographers and graphic designers.
* Providing feedback on work to ensure the delivery of high-quality final products such as publications and videos.
* Liaising with colleagues in DCU Communications and Marketing team as required in relation to graphic design, photography, videography and digital campaigns.
Qualifications And Experience
The ideal post holder should have:
* Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience working in a Journalism, Communications, Copywriting or Public Relations role.
* A relevant level 8 degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or Communications.
* Excellent copywriting and editing skills in English.
* Strong attention to detail, and a commitment to maintain and enforce high standards.
* Understanding of editorial requirements, including SEO fundamentals.
* Demonstrated knowledge of digital marketing strategies, concepts and best practices.
* Experience in all aspects of social media.
* Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to collaborate across teams and disciplines, work independently, manage competing priorities, thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
The following skills or experience would also be considered an advantage:
* Experience using a website content management system such as WordPress or Drupal.
* Experience of the charity or education sectors.
Essential Training
The postholder will be required to undertake the following essential compliance training: Orientation, Health & Safety, Data Protection (GDPR) and all Cyber Security Awareness Training. Other training may need to be undertaken when required.
Salary
€40,000 - €45,000 pro rata

Please note this role does not meet criteria for a Critical Skills permit as stipulated by the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment.
Remote Working Policy
From the 1st of November 2024, DCU will operate its newly agreed Remote Working Policy. Employees may be approved for up to 2 days of remote working per week (or an appropriate pro rata amount for those part time). Any remote working arrangement will be reflective of the predominant on-campus working environment and the core University value of 'Student Focused'.
