POSITION: QUARTERMASTER / MUSEUM SUPPORT (student)
HOURS OF WORK: variable to a maximum of 36.25 hours per week (must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required)

Kingston, Ontario
SALARY: $18.05 per hour
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: May 5 to August 31, 2025
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE?
You Will:
1. Be a representative of one of Kingston’s premium and internationally recognized tourism sites
2. Assist the Quartermaster in the daily operations of the program support unit (Quartermaster stores)
3. Assist with general storekeeping duties such as weapons maintenance, equipment issue, and uniform inventory.
4. Assist in the repair and manufacturing of period leather accoutrements, artillery pieces, and woodwork equipment.
5. Assist in general cleaning of museum exhibits and artifacts as directed.
6. Make each visitor’s experience at Fort Henry National Historic Site of Canada interesting and enjoyable by providing excellent customer service.
7. Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor.
8. Embody the SLPC’s equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.
HOW DO I QUALIFY?
You Have:
1. The ability to follow inventory procedures, dealing with seasonal and daily issuing of uniforms and equipment.
2. The ability to work with black gunpowder and historic weapons.
3. Ability to safely handle / clean museum collections.
4. Communication and interpersonal skills to provide excellent customer service and effective information service to both the public and staff.
5. The ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal, guest and fellow staff safety is always maintained.
6. A valid driver’s licence.
7. Must be at least 17 years of age, as dictated by the Explosives Regulatory Division (ERD).
