The Role: The role of Technical Manager is to ensure the Food Safety & Quality Management System is fully implemented (Accountable)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as the primary Technical contact for the site.
2. Liaise with the Site Production Manager to ensure all aspects of the Food Safety and Quality Management System are implemented across the site.
3. Work directly with the production supervisors/managers and prepare regular management reports and trend analysis.
4. Ensure compliance with DAFM, BRC, MPQAS and Customer Requirements.
5. Continually review existing Food Safety and Quality Management Systems in line with legislative & customer requirements.
6. Keep up to date with food legislation and emerging food safety risks.
7. Communicate technical information in a way that meets the needs of the target audience.
8. Develop new approaches or technologies in the area of technical to ensure continuous improvement.
9. Manage certification and customer audits, completing corrective action reports to agreed timelines.
10. Manage customer complaints, root-cause investigation, and implementation of corrective actions.
11. Drive continuous improvement through Food Safety and Quality Objectives.
12. Develop a Food Safety Culture across the site.
13. Coach & nurture talent within the technical team.
14. Liaise with the HR manager in all HR/IR issues.
Key Requirements:
1. Food Science qualification, preferably a Food Science degree or equivalent experience.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP and Good Manufacturing Procedures.
3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in food safety / quality.
4. A proficient user of computers, i.e., Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
5. Good communication skills, ability to work in a team and on own initiative.
6. Strong organisational skills giving attention to detail.
