Job Opportunity: Social Care Service Manager for Children's Mainstream Residential and Aftercare Service

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Care PIC or Deputy Manager to lead our new residential service in Co. Offaly, providing comprehensive care for children and young persons in mainstream residential and aftercare services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and inspiring a team, ensuring quality care for service users, and creating a safe and nurturing environment for children, focusing on their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
The role involves implementing individual care plans, considering unique needs and circumstances, collaborating with staff for consistent care delivery, monitoring and supervising children, responding effectively to behavioural or emotional issues, and maintaining accurate records of progress, development, and incidents.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues, participate in team meetings, case conferences, and collaborate with professionals for comprehensive care, support educational activities, address learning or behavioural challenges, and organise recreational and social activities, fostering a positive and inclusive community.
In the event of crises or emergencies, the successful candidate will handle situations according to established protocols and collaborate with external agencies, staying informed about best practices and legislative changes.
Requirements:
* Minimum QQI level 7 qualification in social care
* Hold or be enrolled in a programme leading to a management qualification suitable for a health or social care setting
* 4 years' full-time work experience in a social care setting post-qualification
Alternatively, the manager may hold a QQI level 8 qualification in social care with 4 years' post-qualification work experience in a social care setting, or a professional qualification in Social Work with the requisite 4 years post-qualification practice experience and hold or be enrolled in a programme leading to a management qualification suitable for a health or social care setting.
Centre managers who do not hold a social care qualification but have within the 3 years prior to the issuing of this notice (June 2023) been a manager of a registered centre for a period of 2 of the preceding 3 years, are required to hold minimum of a level 7 in a related field and hold or be enrolled in a management qualification suitable for a health care or social care setting.
The registered provider must make arrangements with the manager to obtain a minimal level 7 in social care.
A recognised qualification in social care will include equivalent social care qualifications from other jurisdictions.
