Social Care Worker Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Social Care Worker to join our team in Meath. The successful candidate will be part of a new Tusla service delivering a trauma-informed model of care for young people aged 13-17.
The team will focus on building positive attachments through relationship building, creating a therapeutic environment that encourages the development of healthy relationships. Our goal is to provide robust, holistic, trauma-informed care to the young people we support.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement Care and Placement Plans with accurate recording.
* Promote the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person within the Service.
* Foster physical, emotional, social, and religious welfare of each young person in care.
* Encourage attendance at school, training centers, medical, and clinical appointments.
* Organize personal documents, arrangements, information, and finance on behalf of the young person.
* Liaise with parents, families, general services, and other agencies on behalf of the young person.
* Attend meetings related to the care and developments of the young person.
* Engage in age-appropriate play and activities with each child/young person within the Service.
* Participate in decision-making processes affecting the lives of children and young people.
* Prepare well-balanced meals with high-quality food.
* Undertake home management tasks, including household budgeting, upkeep, and cleaning.
* Attend team meetings and report to the Social Care Leader/Manager on matters affecting service delivery.
* Submit written and verbal reports to the Social Care Leader/Manager on the progress of development for each young person.
* Maintain adherence to Child Protection procedures in accordance with designated officer responsibilities.
* Stay updated on current legislation and professional childcare knowledge.
* Undertake ongoing professional training and development.
* Comply with and contribute to policy development, procedures, guidelines, and safe professional practice, adhering to relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.
* Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).
Requirements:
* Be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU.
* Hold a CORU-approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for registration (evidence of application necessary).
* Be eligible for registration in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU (evidence of application necessary).
* Demonstrate requisite knowledge and ability for proper discharge of duties, including a high standard of suitability and ability.
