Senior / Principal Engineer Gas & Utilities
We are looking for an experienced Senior / Principal Engineer (mechanical/chemical/process or similar suitable experience) to work on projects in our gas and utilities sectors, including supporting RPS’s delivery on GNI Framework projects. This includes a wide variety of design projects in the gas transmission and distribution areas. RPS is also active in the renewable energy sector – our current project portfolio includes industrial projects, wind energy projects, solar, electricity distribution projects, Carbon Capture & Storage, and a hydrogen feasibility study.
Our team is also active in the UK gas sector within the innovation space, and we have also worked on a wide range of projects including biomass, waste to energy, and district heating.
The ideal candidate for this role will have relevant experience in the gas, oil, or similar process industries and will become a senior member of our Gas & Utilities team. Experience of working within the gas and/or energy industry in Ireland will be an advantage, but is not essential. The role will involve taking on a lead design role and assisting in the ongoing training.

About The Role: You will be required to support the delivery of a variety of gas / energy projects and provide clients with a professional, proactive, and efficient service.
The role will involve the following:
1. Direct Engineers and Technicians in the production of design reports and construction packs
2. Contribution to the delivery of gas energy projects at all levels including:
1. Surveys of existing gas infrastructure installations
2. Liaison with third parties
3. Development of enduring design solutions in accordance with relevant standards and client requirements
4. Assessment of design hazards in the context of the Health & Safety (Construction) Regulations
5. Producing/reviewing design calculations, drawings, cost estimates
6. Providing technical input and advice to clients in relation to gas / energy infrastructure projects
7. Exploring opportunities for innovation and sustainability in all aspects of our design
8. Progress reporting
9. Client liaison including presentation of design reports for review and discussion
10. Support the development of existing design competences within the Gas & Utilities team
About You:
* 5 – 10 years of relevant post-graduate experience in the energy or gas sectors
* Experience in the design of energy / utilities infrastructure. Experience of the design of gas infrastructure in Ireland or elsewhere is an advantage
* Experience with ATEX Regulations and design. (Experience of ATEX design in accordance with IGEM/SR/25 is an advantage)
* Hold a clean driving licence
Qualifications:
* Level 8 degree in Engineering
* Chartered Engineer status or equivalent is an advantage; candidates should be seeking to achieve this status if not already achieved
