Senior Environmental Consultant
Occupli Recruitment are working on behalf of our client within the Utilities industry to hire an Environmental Specialist to join the nationwide team, on a contract basis. This is a 12-month contract with potential extension and the divisional locations for this role: East Coast and Central Ireland.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Assess site-specific environmental risks related to brownfield sites as part of construction works or asset management programs.
2. Produce or review contaminated land assessments, waste classification, Construction Environmental Management Plans or other similar environmental reports.
3. Assist in the co-ordination and preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments, Strategic Environmental Assessments, Appropriate Assessments, planning application documentation, and other similar environmental reports.
4. Project Management, advise and/or input on environmental aspects of construction, demolition, asset management, and operational stage projects with support from the wider environmental team.
5. Undertake field work including data collection and analytical scheduling.
6. Responding to and reporting on any Environmental Incidents.
7. Provide advice and technical input to environmental assessment projects, including data collection and analysis.
8. Undertake environmental compliance audits working with other environmental contractors and consultants in a proactive team approach.
9. Engage with contractors, consultants, business units, and external stakeholders, as necessary.
10. Coordinate sub-consultants contributing to projects.
11. Assist in the preparation of tender submissions.
12. Provide support to Senior members of the Environmental Team.
13. Assist in the development of Environmental documentation e.g. Policies and Procedures in line with company approval processes.
Requirements
1. Recognised degree level environmental qualification (NFQ level 8).
2. Strong knowledge of relevant environmental legislation.
3. Experience in practical environmental interpretation and application of EU Directives/Irish legislation.
4. Chartered or in the process of chartership with a recognised body or registered with the Institute of Geologists of Ireland.
5. Register of professionally qualified geo-scientist / competent persons; regulated and unregulated waste disposal/contaminated land assessment.
6. Minimum 5 yrs relevant construction/pharmaceutical industry or electrical utility experience working within an industrial/pharma/commercial/Local Authority/Statutory Body or consulting environment with experience in the environmental assessment of the following:
1. Hazardous substances e.g. Lead/SF6/PCBs/Asbestos/Creosote etc.
2. Oil contamination.
3. Waste Classification and Management.
4. Environmental Auditing experience of construction sites in line with CEMPs and assessment management audits in line with Environmental Management Systems.
5. Experience in the areas of Environmental Impact Assessment and Appropriate Assessment, particularly in SAC, SPAs, and all other Natura 2000 areas.
6. Experience in the coordination of planning applications and associated documentation.
7. Experience in reporting under Environmental liabilities Directive and associated ecological and pollution assessments, and subsequent remediation.
7. A full clean driver’s license.
