The opportunity
As a software architect, you will work alongside a team of international experts in technology, business and the healthcare industry. Software development is one of the core strengths of the DHEC and pivotal in delivering digital health tools for our clients. With you we want to further strengthen our technical expertise.
Your key responsibilities:
* Oversee and guide the development team to ensure the architectural vision is maintained.
* Collaborate with near- and offshore technical teams, vendors and external partners to ensure tailored software solutions for healthcare clients comply with health regulations and standards.
* Work with clinical teams, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to prioritize and address health-specific software requirements.
* Evaluate and select software development technologies, tools, and platforms.
* Identify software requirements and design architectural blueprints for the development team.
* Communicate requirements with stakeholders like project managers, scrum masters, product owners, business analysts, developers, and infrastructure or security architects, and provide training and support in business development.
Skills and attributes for success:
* Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service, and technical writing skills for both technical and business audiences.
* Proficiency in the local language of your country of residence is required.
* Fluency in English and German (written and verbal) is a prerequisite. Knowledge of additional languages is appreciated.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
* Ability to work under tight timelines for multiple project deliveries in parallel.
* Flexibility to travel.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, (Software) Engineering or other related field with strong IT focus. Master's or further certification is advantageous.
* Minimum of 5 years of working experience, preferably 2 years in a healthcare context, focusing on designing and implementing custom developed applications on native mobile platforms (Android/iOS). Experience with hybrid solutions or web is a plus.
* Deep understanding of mobile application development, the frameworks, and the technical characteristics of the mobile operating systems Android and iOS.
* Deep understanding of software architectures on all layers – network, infrastructure, security, persistence, application, and frontend to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
* Proven experience in writing technical concepts, database design, and data modeling.
* Experience with CI/CD tech stacks, e.g. Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform.
* Experience in designing architectures in healthcare system landscapes and ensuring interoperability between healthcare-specific data formats, e.g. HL7/FHIR, OMOP, xDT, openEHR.
* Good knowledge of the German healthcare system landscapes and reference architectures at hospitals, service providers, and/or health insurance companies, e.g., TI, HIS, LIMS.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
* A reliable network in the healthcare industry and a consulting track record.
* A good overview of industry technology trends and emerging technologies, understanding how they apply to healthcare clients and can drive their adoption into projects.
* Good knowledge of (agile) project management standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines as well as related frameworks, e.g. Scrum or SAFe.
* Ability to read and develop code in known programming languages, e.g. Java, C++, C#, Python, PHP.
