NPI Engineer - County Louth
We are seeking an experienced NPI engineer to join our established engineering team. As a key member of the Engineering team, the NPI Development Engineer will be responsible for quoting new business opportunities, introducing new parts to production, reviewing new products introduced post-production, and providing data on the performance of these processes.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
* RFP Process:
o The NPI Engineer is accountable for the Request for Quote process from start to finish.
o The RFQ list must be kept up to date with all current RFQ's, prioritized in conjunction with the customer accounts team.
o A detailed review of customer drawings is performed to ascertain material, manufacturing, and processing requirements.
o The initial review of quotes and creation of the quote in the ERP system (Epicor) are scheduled.
o Liaison with customer design engineers ensures any design or process ambiguity is resolved.
o Detailed cost analysis on new opportunities is produced in line with business processes.
o Raw material and second processing prices are attained from the purchasing team.
o Machine cycle times, machine type, machining steps, and tooling data are obtained from the engineering team.
o The final review of quotes and provision of the finalized quote to the customer accounts team are scheduled.
o The quote is closed out on the RFQ list.
o Key data from the quote process is recorded for management reports.
* NPI Process:
o The NPI Engineer is accountable for the New Product Introduction process from start to finish.
o New product details are created on the NPI stage gate list.
o New products are set up through the ERP system to ensure all processes are adhered to and recorded during product manufacture.
o The review of NPI parts with quality, engineering, purchasing, planning, and production teams is organized.
o C coordination with operational functions identifies potential inefficiencies or obsolete processes and/or technologies.
o Improvements in process design, layout, and operational performance are continually sought.
o Support and participation in ongoing continuous improvement projects drive cycle time, cost, defect, and machine downtime reduction.
o Compliance to industry quality and environmental standards is ensured; supporting documentation is developed and implemented.
o Scheduling of parts into production is worked with the Operations Planning Lead.
o NPI stand-up meeting reviews where NPI part progress and stage gate list are reviewed are hosted.
o Job Packages and inspection sheets for new products are created.
* Engineering Review Process:
o Data for the Engineering Review Meeting is collated.
o Cycle times quoted compared to actual and upkeep of the ERP system are ensured.
o Data trending is performed.
o Reports on the performance of the RFQ and NPI processes are created.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
* A minimum of a Level 7 Bachelor's Degree in engineering or equivalent.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* A strong background working with CNC machines and robotics.
* Experience working with and mentoring technicians is desirable.
* Strong attention to detail.
* A self-starter with the ability to manage time and priorities.
* The ability to perform under pressure.
* A strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent IT skills, particularly use of ERP system and Excel at an advanced level.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
