This service provides a range of supports for families, with a specific focus on engaging new community members and the Travelling community living in Finglas West.
The project worker will work in partnership with our interagency partners to best meet the needs of children and families attending the centre.
These services are available Monday to Friday.
What will my day to day look like?In this role, you will develop and implement programmes that respond to the needs of children and families referred to the service.
You will be responsible for the following:
Assessing the needs of the children and the families engaging with our servicesPlanning, implementing and reviewing programmes for children/young people/carers/families based on an assessment of their individual and group needsWorking with children/young people/carers/families in a variety of ways, including group work, individual work and family work, centre based and outreach work.Liaising effectively with families and other statutory, community and voluntary bodies and attending and contributing to reviews and case conferences as required.Being vigilant for signs of any type of abuse and reporting all concerns promptly and accurately in line with Barnardos Child Protection Policy.Identifying and documenting any unmet needs of children/young people/carers/families within the serviceWhat experience do I need?Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience working with vulnerable children and families specifically within a child welfare context.Experience of planning, implementing and reviewing programmes with children and/or families.Ability to work under pressure, making decisions in consultation with the line manager when appropriate.Commitment to adhering to best practice in the work and being innovative and open to change.Aptitude for forming objective relationships with children, young people, families/carers, colleagues and other agencies.Experience of analysis and report writing highly desirable.To be considered for this role you will hold a recognised third level practice qualification (minimum Level 7 on the QQI) in one of the following:
Social Care / Education / Social Work / Youth Work / Early Childhood Care / Education or related discipline (Nursing, Psychology, Early Years' Education).Additional information:A Full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured vehicle is essential. The post-holder is initially assigned to work in the Finglas Family Resource Centre but may be required in the future to work in other locations in the Dublin area in line with organisational needs.
