Location Ireland Dublin Dublin Remote vs. Office Hybrid (Remote/Office) Company Siemens Energy Limited Organization Grid Technologies Business Unit Grid Solutions Full / Part time Full-time Experience Level Not defined A Snapshot of your day As a Substation Primary Electrical Engineer at Siemens Energy in Dublin, Ireland, you will have a diverse range of responsibilities related to protection and control schematics for Irish Substations up to 400kV, as well as LVAC, LVDC, and UPS equipment. Your expertise will be essential in producing engineering and test specifications for both new and existing solutions. What you’ll bring
1. Extensive design experience within the Electricity Transmission and Distribution industry.
2. You have previously been a lead engineer having the verification authority of all the design work of substation Primary design preferably in the renewables industry.
3. You should have a Degree in Electrical Engineering
4. Excellent knowledge of layout and Primary Equipment for substations projects
5. Fully conversant with the latest Transmission and Distribution standards & technologies.
6. Fully conversant with Health & Safety standards applicable to the design of High Voltage substations.
7. Good standard of IT literacy – especially Word and Excel.
8. Conversant with AutoCad
9. Conversant with checking the primary design on 3D models.
How you’ll make an impact
10. Leading a team to deliver the Primary engineering design adhering to the process.
11. Technical responsibility for primary layout and equipment design on substations. Accountable for approving primary engineering design of the team as required.
12. Verification authority of all Primary work ie Layouts, technical specifications, loading calculations & loading data, civil guidance drawings etc.
13. Responsible for co-ordination with the departmental engineering consultant, client, civil, project management and other interfaces and deliver a high-quality technical output from the team in line with the agreed delivery timescales and budget.
14. Co-ordination with the engineering planner and supervising the engineering progress of the project, raising issues as and when required to the departmental Manager.
15. Responsible for ensuring design risk assessments are in place for all design solutions and residual risks are passed on to the H&S file.
16. Participate & contribute to HAZID, HAZCON & HAZOP reviews.
17. Ensures consistency in design by chairing design reviews and adhering to design specifications, process. To co-ordinate with other engineers of their own team and the engineering consultant for the design consistency.
18. To work on the departmental improvement projects
19. Responsible for standardisation of onshore primary design.
20. Abide by all business compliance requirements in line with Company policies, for example Business Conduct Guidelines & Confidential Information.
