Role Introduction:Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations.
The business has grown to over €3BN in annual revenue, operating 600 Motorway Service Plazas and forecourt sites internationally and employing over 17,000 people.Applegreen is experiencing rapid growth and, to support this expansion, we are looking to onboard a Food Operations Manager.
This role involves providing operational support, training, and coaching, and will be part of the Food team, reporting to the Lead Food Operations Manager.This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to excel.

Core responsibilities include:•Ensure comprehensive training for respective brands.•Fully understand and adhere to brand regulations and policies.•Closely monitor financial results and coach teams on how to maximise performance in this area.•Collaborate with line managers and team to review and evaluate training tools.•Develop and implement training materials to fill any gaps in Brand Ops Excellence training.•Organise and manage training plans for new food managers to meet brand standards.-Meet & Greet-Certified COE training-Correct training duration•Ensure sufficient trained COE (centre of excellence) units for new manager training.•Conduct shift observations and coach managers on findings.•Create and review comprehensive post-visit reports with unit and site managers.•Communicate with Regional Managers about food safety or unit performance issues.•Prioritise visits to underperforming stores (bottom 30% operationally and financially).•Provide training compliance updates to the Food Operations Manager.•Develop and support training plans for new store openings.•Prepare and deliver brand training workshops/courses to ensure compliance.•Arrange workshops/courses to assist with the progression of Training Champions.•Coach unit teams on how to successfully train new recruits.•Manage training data for all respective brands.•Proactively reward and recognise outstanding performance.•Support key brand initiatives and marketing campaign launches.•Deliver site-based brand training workshops/courses ( Back to Basics).•Assist in creating content for effective communication (newsletters, portal development)•Assist with the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).•Be the go-to person for managers regarding respective brands.Education, Qualifications & Experience:Leaving cert or equivalent.Degree or Diploma preferable in Hospitality or Business Management.Food Safety/HACCP Certification – Required for compliance with Irish food safety regulations.Health & Safety Training.At least 2 years of experience in the multi-branded food environment.Have operational experience in a service-focused organisation.Strong communication skills.Excellent planning & organisation skills.A full driver's licence.High proficiency in all Microsoft Office software also essential (Excel, PPT).Key skills & attributes:?A passion for food and excellence in customer standards.?A dynamic individual who adapts well to change and can thrive in a rapidly growing organisation that continues to evolve.?Strong knowledge of food safety regulations.?Excellent Coaching skills.?Is a strong team player.?Ability to energise, motivate and influence others.?Confidence to challenge non-compliance and escalate if needed.?A highly organised individual with ability to plan and prioritise workloads effectively for maximum impact and adapt around changing priorities as required.?Excellent drive, enthusiasm and commitment and a keen interest in developing a career in Applegreen.?A 'can do' attitude and a positive solution focused mindset.?Demonstrate strong analytical capability.?Exceptional interpersonal skills, and ability to engage and develop relationships with individuals at all levels of the organisation.?Be a self-starter, and be able to work collaboratively as a member of a highly interdependent team across many parts of Applegreen.?Is resilient and calm under pressure.?Has sound judgement and objective logical decision-making skills.?Has strong leadership potential and management skills, who will be a role model for the people and culture at Applegreen.?Willing to travel as required and be flexible with work hours to meet the needs of this role.
