Details of Service:
Peamount Healthcare provides diverse health and social care services within Rehabilitation, Residential & Community settings.
Reporting Relationship:
The post holder will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 or designated person in charge and will be accountable to the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Nursing.
Purpose of the Post:
To assist with the delivery of rehab residents/older person adult care under the supervision and direction of Nursing or other Professional Staff.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The Health Care Assistant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assist in providing high standards of health and social care to residents/older adults, carrying out assigned and delegated responsibilities involving direct and indirect care with all activities of daily living under the supervision of a registered Nurse.
Core Responsibilities:
The Health Care Assistant will:
1. Assist in the provision of quality service under the direction of the CNM 1 &2 / Registered Nurse.
2. Ensure the provision of a high standard of care to the patient and families.
3. Maintain awareness of the privacy and dignity of the patient.
4. Demonstrate motivation and appreciate the importance of providing a quality service.
5. Respect rehab residents/older person's adults, their families, and colleagues.
6. Act as an advocate for rehab residents/older person's adults.
7. Promote the participation of rehab residents/older person's adults in their own care.
8. Maintain confidentiality of all information.
9. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and teamwork.
10. Promote a culture that values diversity and respect in the workplace.
Eligibility Criteria:
Qualifications and/or experience:
1. The relevant health skills QQI (formerly FETAC) level 5 qualification.
2. An equivalent relevant health care qualification or a comparable healthcare qualification.
3. Be currently employed as a Health Care Assistant or a comparable role.
Health: Candidates must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office.
Character: Candidates must be of good character.
Skills, competencies and/or knowledge:
1. Demonstrates evidence of experience working in a Health or Caring Service.
2. Demonstrates awareness of person-centered approach.
3. Demonstrates knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
Communication and Teamwork:
Effective communication is a core skill required by Health Care Assistants at Peamount Healthcare.
