Overview
The Senior Clinical Engineering Technician is directly responsible for carrying out all Clinical Engineering duties in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
A panel may be formed upon completion of this campaign for posts in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda and Louth County Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
The Post Holder will:
1. Contribute to the Department’s administrations and functions.
2. Arrange for the identification & purchase of such supplies and materials as are necessary for all Clinical Engineering work.
3. Ensure that comprehensive maintenance schemes and work programmes are carried out satisfactorily.
4. Keep such records as may be required from time to time and regular processing of all documentation associated with the operation of the Clinical Engineering Department.
5. Assist with the coordination and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules.
6. Ensure that all relevant Hospital Departments are fully briefed in the safe use and care of electro-medical equipment.
7. Perform his/her duties in any Hospital Department or at such other locations as may be required.
8. Maintain a satisfactory standard of work at all times.
9. Provide maintenance services for electro-medical devices in respect of its functional, electronic, optical, electrical, and mechanical aspects to a standard of safety and accuracy consistent with its function and with professional standards.
10. To be professionally responsible for all aspects of the post.
11. To co-operate fully with ensuring compliance with Health & Safety requirements, regulations and standards.
12. Report to immediate superior on any irregularities that might adversely affect the performance of assigned duties.
13. Be willing to report to the Hospital outside of normal hours for emergency duty.
14. Perform such duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Principal Clinical Engineering Technician or such other person as may be designated.
15. Work with Infection, Prevention and Control Department, Endoscopy and Decontamination Departments to ensure compliance with National Standards.

Minimum Requirements
1. Hold as a minimum a recognised qualification at National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Level 7 or higher, in one of the following:
1. Biomedical Engineering
2. Or hold a recognised qualification at least equivalent to one of the above.
2. Have a minimum of three years postgraduate satisfactory and relevant experience in an appropriate medical industrial field, including at least two years in a clinical engineering environment is desirable but not essential.
3. Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and administrative capacity) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
