Your impact We are seeking a talented Senior Estimator to join our Estimating team in the Advanced Facilities Line of Business in Ireland.
The preferred candidate will have extensive experience developing Engineers Estimates for capital investment projects in the Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical, Data Centre or Semi-Conductor Industries.
The candidate will have experience delivering accurate estimates for projects with overall investment values in excess of €50 Million.
Experience with EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management) projects is desirable.
The Senior Estimator will form part of the Estimating team to deliver estimating functions across all projects in the business unit.
Applicants should be considered proficient at all aspects in the field of estimating and cost engineering.
Experience completing estimates from both a top-down and bottom-up methodology based on design information at feasibility, concept and basic design stages.
Experience in project controls and quantity surveying is desirable.
Accountability: A member of the Estimating Team, accountable to the Estimating Section head, ensuring that the estimating needs for the Projects are being satisfied.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include: Disseminate Operating Procedures for estimating activities and ensure implementation.Standardise the estimating delivery of the projects, tools, templates, filing structures, so that a Jacobs Standard becomes the norm across the operation.Develop and implement estimate plans for projects.Compile project estimates in accordance with the approved estimate plans and standard operating procedures.Complete estimate risk analysis and contingency calculations.Present and review estimates with project team and senior management.Present and review estimates with clients.Consolidation of benchmark information in a centralised and traceable location to ensure that all project learnings are captured and incorporated at project commencement and completion.Take the lead in Value Engineering and Risk Workshopping.Support and propagate Capital Cost Trending across projects.Support and propagate Jacobs Value-Plus programme.Support and propagate Jacobs Sustainability-Plus programme.Ensure that systems are in place and effective, and that all estimating requirements of Project Management and the Client are being satisfied.Strive to improve templates and processes for estimate delivery, leveraging the IT tools available such as Cost-x, Navisworks, excel and other tools to improve the productive delivery of the estimating function.Overall expectations: Delivery of a high-quality, accurate, transparent and timely estimating function for projects.Actively cooperate with members of the Project & Operations Management team.Make a particular point of establishing a mutually respectful relationship with key client personnel with whom you interact.Meet commitments made to the operations, individually or as a team, to complete work by certain dates or within agreed effort hours or cost budgets.Continually look for ways to improve our work processes.Analyse outside commercial approaches and information for best practices.Be positive and respectful in your discussions with clients and Jacobs.Here's what you'll need: BSc or MSc in a recognised Industry field (Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Engineering).Chartered Membership of Engineers Ireland, SCSI or equivalent is an advantage.This position requires extensive experience in cost engineering, quantity surveying or estimating fields.
