Chief Respiratory Physiologist Full Time Hours, Temporary Contract.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Pulmonary Laboratory.
Be responsible for the other technical staff and their clinical workload in the Pulmonary Laboratory Provide support for staff supervision and line-management.These duties will include, but not be limited to implementation of personal development planning, conflict resolution, training needs analysis etc.
Take responsibility for the management of the team and the delegation of appropriated duties relevant to their qualifications, skills and competency.
Take responsibility for the quality assurance and quality control requirements of the Pulmonary Laboratory and the implementation of practices to ensure highest quality of care.
Work closely with Consultants of the Pulmonary Laboratory and Operations Manager in strategic planning of department services within a regional and national context.
Be responsible for the overall clinical output of the Pulmonary Laboratory.
Participate in patient care.
Competently conduct a range of diagnostic tests including the measurement, recording, analysis of pulmonary function tests using a variety of techniques and equipment.
Carrying out advanced procedure.
Be responsible for the management of the maintenance and calibration of all instrumentation in the Pulmonary Laboratory to ensure that it is in excellent working order at all times.
Work closely with Respiratory Clinical Lead in the development and implementation of evidence based departmental protocols that adhere to local and national/international guidelines as appropriate.
Accept accountability for standards of performance in Department.
Supervise and support the Basic Grade and Senior Physiologists in the Pulmonary Laboratory with regular one to one meetings to keep staff informed, aware of their role and to listen to their views/offer support.
Provide Clinical Supervision and support the Basic Grade and Senior Physiologists in the Pulmonary Laboratory in the Chronic Disease Hub on SMOH.
Qualifications and Experience: Each candidate must possess: BSc in Clinical Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology or equivalent as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS), or the Certificate in Medical Physics and Psychological Measurement (MPPM) from Dublin Institute of Technology or equivalent as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS), or an equivalent relevant scientific qualification (Level 8) as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS).
AND Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years satisfactory relevant post qualification experience.
Candidates must have 5 years senior, managerial and administrative experience to properly discharge the functions of the role.
