Job Description:
Job Title: Skilled Maintenance Operative / Carpenter
Department: Facilities
Reports to: Facilities Managers
Overall Purpose of Job: We will provide exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring, and compassion are at the centre of all we do.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:
* Assist in the general duties that are pertinent to the upkeep of the Hospital.
* Assist other trades, as requested by management.
* Demolish existing walls and structures.
* Erect studded partitions and plasterboard and apply finish to same.
* Install, repair and reinstate suspended ceilings.
* Build and paint cabinets, shelves, etc.
* Hang various items such as pictures, shelves, doors, etc.
* Install/repair key locks, handles, and hinges.
* Install/repair hardware.
* Repair windows.
* Assist in plumbing issues, e.g., blockages.
* Maintain waste water drainage system.
* Operate system valves.
* Perform general repairs to building and equipment.
* Perform preventative maintenance.
* Visually inspect facility and repair, plaster, paint, etc., where necessary.
* Deliver Medical Gas to Departments.
* Maintain records and communicate information to other personnel.
* Provide security support for patrons within the Hospital.
* Comply and adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
* All other duties as assigned.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
* Proficient knowledge of the building industry and preferably a working knowledge of Fire doors.
* Qualification in Carpentry desirable.
Experience:
* A minimum of 7 years' experience in this or a related role preferred.
* Hospital experience preferred.
Job Specific Competencies and Knowledge:
* Ability to perform general maintenance on building and equipment.
* Ability to use large power tools where necessary.
* Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
* Knowledge of appropriate safety systems and procedures.
* Discretion.
* Ability to interact with people at all levels.
